Quest Fireworks
So Passport ended and Quest began. It was kinda fun. My group is finally starting to bond a bit. It took us a little while to get everything started. Like a few days. Wends night Jennie was here and she and I talked literally all night. We didn’t mean to, it just happened. We were talking and then we got into bed and just kept talking and then it was 5:30 and the breakfast crew was driving in. So we decided to stay up instead of going to bed for only 2 hours. We were so tired. My Quest group was doing Streetfest as well on Thurs. Streetfest is a outreach/community service project that everyone has to do. My group went to a place called Hope Community, where abused homeless women with children can live for up to two years while they get back on their feet. There were a few different jobs and I choose to clean an apartment that had been abandoned. It was so gross. Absolutly disgusting. I won’t go into details. But three of us, Becky, Jess and myself later joined by Betsy and Justin, cleaned the entire apartment. It was hard work and smelly and made your stomach turn. But the reward was amazing. To be able to stand in the doorway when we were done and look at how clean we were able to make it and how much we accomplished. And to think that maybe someday someone would be able to live there again while they got their life back on tract. Oh it was amazing. After we got back to the dorms, I collapsed for a few hours of sleep. But it was cool. The other two days of Quest weren’t as cool, but they were pretty good. I don’t like group games, they are really stupid. But oh well. Thursday night I met up with Robert and we went to go see Oceans 11. Very good movie. It was cool. We planned to meet in the theatre and when I walked in he was looking for me and he was so happy to see me. It was really nice. It makes me feel loved (not like that, just like a friend) and wanted. And afterward we walked around campus for a little while. And talked a bit about just stuff. On Friday was the floor date. It was ok I guess. We went to downtown to see the fireworks. The fireworks were good, but the people in my car were werid. But I caught up with the other kid from Poughkeepsie, Chris Hanchett (from my old church). He was really nice and we talked for a little while. The fireworks themselves were really awesome and I loved them. We got lost getting home and it was so late when we got home. And last night was this huge block party called street dance. They blocked off the street and played music and I danced for like 2 hours. I was looking for Robert, but I didn’t see him. So I went up to my dorm and called him. He doesn’t like big groups. So I asked if he wanted to go for a walk. And we walked all around campus. And we walked across Calvin’s Way – the bridge over the East Beltline to get to the other part of campus. And we sat in the bridge because it was quiet and cool and talked for a really long time. And we had such a good time. It was so much fun. And this morning he and I had breakfast and went to church together. I might go out shopping with Jennie and her parents, but I dunno. I’m tired and I’m not really sure. Oh, well. Thats about it. The church service was really amazing, too. And classes start tomorrow and I’m a bit nervous. Weds is Sept 11 and there is a special thing that I want to go to, but I have a lot of classes, so we’ll see what happens. I’m scared I’m gonna get lost going to class but oh well. Peace out!!
