tables

I met Fransy today to help her make tables for in her thesis. The reason for this was that her supervisor does not like one of her chapters, and her rewriting it is required. The content of the chapter is ok, but the structure isn’t. So instead of organising it according to conversation we have now reorganised it according to topic. Some extra tables were added so that she can include some quantitative results. And after this we had to count verbs of uncertainty (expressing negative face) and modals. Fransy is really unsure of her own abilities in doing quantitative analysis, but I am always glad to help. This evening and the entire day tomorrow she’ll be working on it and after that she hopes it’ll be done. It’s likely that she’ll contact me to check if her tables look all right.

I do have time to help her; it is not that I have a job or anything. Unfortunately, the job at ING via the temping agency isn’t going to happen. We discussed it, but the major problem is that they require that I’ll be always available in Mondays and Wednesdays, which is something I definitely can’t promise, due to varying course schedules. But I enrolled into their system anyway; they’ll call when they find something. In the mean time, I got an email from a recruiter at Tom Tom, for a job on there first tier technical support. It pays a lot: €1800 a month, which is €300 more than I earned at Stream. They have an open day tomorrow, which I will definitely check out.
