Brakes 2

Well, from this point of view, the brake job only cost me 45 bucks.

44 and some change.

That’s added to the 150 I had for gift money, of course.

While it’s not the boots I was thinking of, or a hard drive for this computer, it is peace of mind and a settled soul.  Today and yesterday as I drove around my routes, I felt the agony of the grinding brake.  Really.  It bothered me so much.

Turned out that Les Schwab had replaced both driveshafts and the CV joints in July, and of course that’s under warranty so the driver’s side shaft and etc. was replaced free of charge.  I applied for and they granted credit, but I paid the bill in full today and made an appointment tomorrow afternoon to do the rear brakes.  Might as well get ’em done- the van earns it’s living.  I’ll go ahead and "charge" that job and add a set of tire chains that will fit.  Cuz, ya know, they’re their tires.

The chains come with a buy-back guarantee – if they don’t get used by the time the stud law ends in spring, they’ll buy ’em back.

It worked out really well, I think.

btw, I got tagged the other day and will be posting that shortly

You are definitely a wise and frugal Cat! I think your gift money is definitely well-spent, and it certainly arrived like the cavalry charging over the hill in time for your brake problem. Tad disappointing to not be able to use any of it for “mad money,” but I’m sure the peace of mind you get compensates to a certain degree! 😀

What a relief! GOOD FOR YOU!!! ~the feline~ Peace of mind is worth all that and then some.

Oh hooray!!!!!!!!!!! SO glad you were able to avoid lots of stress – good for you for getting it all fixed up so you’ll have more piece of mind!

Glad the van’s back on the road. Good of you to hang onto the money too so you still had it. And happy chains.

It’s a gift to be able to take care of necessities. I remember times when I couldn’t. It’s a big thing to be able to trust the vehicle you have to drive. I’m looking at the icy roads this morning and feeling thankful about my ice radials. The chain buy-back is a great idea…I haven’t heard of that before.

Oh, good idea – I’d forgotten that we can leave private notes. Ok, I’m Trisha McLatchie, 10 Frome St, Port Augusta SA 5700 Australia. I’m too easy to identify so I never refer to the name of my town in my diary. Now, what I wanted to ask you was this: I have a USA $1 that has a rubber stamp asking recipients to mark the location they got the note on a website- so as to track its movements.

If I were to post it to you and you were to spend it as per usual, you could log it on the site, or just let the next person do so — how do you feel about that? I’d lke to get it back into circulation, and the person I got it from lives in NJ, so I thought you’d be sufficiently far away to give it a run for its money. LOL!

Well he posted it to here, which is not actually how it is supposed to happen, so I thought I’d get it going again in a more kosher way. I’ll post it tomorrow .. if it is not too hot.
