changes

I just woke up from my before-work nap – some ugly low-piched noise out there went on and on and on and finally I just got up and said fuck it, I’ll stay up a few hours, then go get my papers.

I’m delivering the Saturday papers tonight, and unlike the rest of the week, the Saturdays are not zoned by the counties I deliver in (2) but rather come down to me all at once. During the week, I do the south route first – downtown Milwaukie – then go back to the plant and get my Portland papers and do my southeast Portland route. Which, incidentally, ends in my nieghborhood and covers all of it and the surrounding area, so it’s cool, I get to see and work in MY neighborhood.

I’ll be bus driving for the North Clackamas Education district, an area that has seen rapid growth and that has changed a LOT in the 19 years since I first came here and passed through there. I’m looking forward to driving around on someone else’s dime and looking around and seeing changes.

Life has been full. lately, and I haven’t had much time to hang out and see what my favs have been up to. Real Life has been pretty fully absorbing lately, and will be now too, since I will be delivering newspapers from about 1 am til 5:30-6 am and then driving a school bus from 6:45 to 9:15 am and 1:15 to 3:50 pm. Somewhere in there, I’ll have to fit the rest of my life. The school year is 183 days, and is now a couple dozen days into it, so life won’t be completely full, but full enough, I think.

I was having a dream while I napped, and in the dream, I came to realise that the woman (who I knew in high school) who had turned me onto MySpace had dropped me from her favs list there, so when I got up, I logged into MySpace and realised it was true, that that effort has gotten scant attention and is largely a waste of time for me. I wrote a blog entry to that effect, and saw that my last blog entry had gotten zero attention. Meh, I don’t have time to waste being ignored there.

Besides, here on OD I can post more than a dozen pictures at any one time. Whole series of picture entries, that get some attention, at least. I’ll probably drop the MySpace thing – why bother with it, if it gets no attention. As I have said before, life is choices, and I can choose how to use my time. Now that I won’t have so much, I want to waste as little of it as I can. Along that line, I haven’t had much time to do more than post entries here – I used to have hours to spend (and did) on reading entries here, but I’ve seen my notes received number decline because I haven’t noted much of anyone lately. I do reply to notes, but haven’t had the time to do much reading here.

I’m off Saturday night and won’t go back to work til Sunday night (for the Monday papers) but my school bus driving career starts Monday morning, and real life has to take precidence over the cyber life. Since I’ll have time tomorrow (Saturday) I’ll try to read my fav’s entries, but I see I have 68 favs on the list. Lately I’ve gotten notes from about two dozen of them…I may have to trim that list down to a size I can actually handle.

So far, everyone I’ve met at the bus driving gig is friendly and supportive, so I may shift my life’s attention to "real life" and make friends there- who knows- I might find more of what I think I want there, in so called real life.

Meh, I’m not sure I like the tone of this entry. I guess I’ll post it anyway and see what happens.

Nothing wrong with the tone of the entry, Cat (you were on the front page!), esp since that noise woke you up. I think everything you’re saying is good – reprioritising, in a way 🙂 I don’t use MySpace and hopefully won’t for a loooong time.

‘I might find more of what I think I want there, in so called real life.’ I know what you mean… and I wish you well… but whatever happens come back from time to time and report. You don’t have to be at every entry for sure, we want you busy and happy, and am very proud of you, and wish you all sorts of good things. But that doesn’t mean you have to give us up. Just stop by from time to time…. please. OD is a good and interesting place, but for sure, it isn’t everything.

How dare you let your real life take over! LOL! Dude, why do you think I was gone for a couple of weeks? Real life gets over whelming. And the time I did have to get on line I used to spend with my family. The great thing about OD is the people dont leave. We can come back and still see our friends here and they are so happy to hear from us. As for Myspace. It is a waste of time. I have had mine for a while and the only reason I keep mine is because a lot of the kids from my bus are on there and we like to keep in touch over the vacations or if they need to tell me something. I keep mine private so only people who I approve can see mine. And how on earth are you going to deliver papers AND drive bus? I would be beat. LOL! Take care my friend and good luck on the first day on the bus. You are going to have so much fun. {{hugs}}

I always thought MySpace was a teen thing….obviously I’ve never checked it out, but it doesn’t sound particularly appealing anyway. I like OD, and find that I use it most when I have real emotional issues to work through.

Shifting your attention to “real life” is a good thing. We get so caught up in our computers that we slowly isolate ourselves from people we could actually interact with, do things with, go places with, touch, hug, see the smile on their faces, read their eyes. My faves list gets out of control periodically and I trim it…. nothing wrong with that.
