I guess I’m there

I woke up on Friday totally covinced it was Thursday,,,despite turning the news on first thing.  I guess it’s just background noise if I don’t catch what day it is.  Back in the years recovering from the car wreck, the days and weeks would drift by, more, or less smoothly, but this summer, I’m off for Summer Break and just have my weekend work to remind me of what day it it.

As for being fully relaxed, well, I guess I’m there.

Finding out it was really Friday was pleasing – it also explained why my Direct Deposit paycheck "came early".  Pretty cool – no bus driving all month but a paycheck anyway (skimmed off the school year’s earnings, yeah, but money for no work, sorta – nice)

The papers are in tens this weekend – easy to handle and to count – I got 710 yesterday and 980 today.  I used to "know" how many papers I was distributing, but I realised early on that I didn’t really "need" to know that – all I really needed to do was follow the list and give such and such so many papers and keep doing it until the end of my route.  Five and a half years now I’ve been driving the same route – with the added newness of the five stops I picked up from the reorganisation of the routes.  That Clinton area is pretty scenic.

I wrote last week that it had been a long time since anyone stole our street racks – the very next day, three of them vanished.  They may or may not get replaced – the one will; the boss says it sells pretty well, but the other two may stay gone – the boss says racks are hardly worth it anymore – too many people take more papers than they pay for.

Or, the boss is lazy and just doesn’t want to deal with it, and tells me something he knows I’ll buy right away. I have a generally low opinion of people – he knows I’ll buy the Idiots are ripping us off stic.

Whatever.  No big deal was made of it on my route sheet, but several stops were cut yet again – papers must not be selling.  I also gave up memorizing who got what – it changes, and if I don’t follow the route sheet for THIS weekend, things could end up way off.

I haven’t been eating real well – talk about lazy, and since it’s payday and micky D’s is open (6:25 am now), I’ll make this short and go get some food.

(and it’s kinda nice to drive my black Cali after driving that big white box of a stepvan)

Hey now, don’t say your not eating right and in the same sentence go get Micky D’s. Glad your rested enough to not know what day it is. It’s nice sometimes.

Have a nice day Cat.. good to see you on FB too 🙂 Take care,

When I worked at the newspaper, racks got stolen and not replaced because they cost $350 each and typically, if replaced would get stolen again. Our circulation manager went out and looked for them and usually found them within 1/2 mile in the desert, stripped for $20 or so in coinage, with the boxes ruined and smashed from being thrown off the back of trucks. After a while, she gave up replacing.
