Stonehenge (edit)

239 miles, round trip. A little over five hours of driving. No sun, but no rain either. 40 some degrees most of the day – not terribly cold. Despite all the windmills around Stonehenge, out in the east end of the Columbia Gorge, there were almost no breezes and it was a calm day.

The American Stonehenge is an almost exact copy of the original Stonehenge in England, copied in Pre-Stressed concrete. When it was built, in the 1920’s, Stonehenge was thought to have been a place of human sacrifice, and Sam Hill, a rich businessman, built a copy of it on his land near Maryhill, Washington, a township named for his wife, Mary.

As a place a sacrifice, it was built here after WW1.

Sam didn’t do things on a small scale, and his Stonehenge was dedicated to the men of Klickitat County, Washington, who died in the slaughter of WW1, "The war to end all wars".

83 pictures taken today, and just one so far edited. A good drive, east on WA 14 to Stonehenge, then west on 14 to US 97 and across the Columbia River to Interstate 84, westbound to Portland one hundred and five miles.

The Queen of Romania was never married to Sam Hill.

I’m interested in how you edit pictures. What did you do to the one above?

No, indeed she wasn’t. She was Sam’s friend though, and I’ve edited in a link to wikipedia.
