12-12-12

I am very sure that is about the only time in this life I’ll be able to write, as a date, 12/12/12.

11-11-11 was a once in a lifetime thing too. last year.

(on 6/6/06, hundreds of us lined up on the Hawthorne Bridge and gave "the devil’s salute" (thumb holding down the middle two fingers))

I guess 10/10/10 was one of those dates too – have to go back and see if I wrote anything for those dates….

It will be a popular day for weddings in Washington, across the river: Gay Marriage was approved in November, and 12/12/12 is a prime date to get married on.

I had to laugh; they made such a Big Deal over this gay marriage thing.  One Washington County was expecting Hundreds of applications for marriage licenses and opened early, with extra staff on duty – and gave out just four licenses that day.

I laughed hard when I heard that – not that I’m against it or anything, but tempest in a teapot, or what?

We had a "Mall Shooting" today, at Clackamas Town Center, that dominated the news all day. Still haven’t heard all the details, but apparently it was one guy, shouting "I’m the shooter" (if witnesses are accurate), and his high-capacity magazine jammed (they do that, especially when you want them to work flawlessly. Ask that guy from Tucson). I don’t know the make of rifle he was using, or the caliber; I think he was the only person who died, but whether he shot himself or was shot by someone else, I don’t know yet. CTC is a BIG place. Where are those NRA types when something like this happens?

I’ve been writing about my life lately, and not happily, but, all in all, it has been pretty good. Yeah, my parents died when I was a teenager and less than good stuff happened after that, and yeah, this Disability stuff is infuriating – "let’s see how YOU recover from this brain injury thing, motherfucker" and swing my bat.

Not all that well, I don’t think, because those dipshits are not ME, and I am not your ordinary cat.

Just sayin’.

There are a lot of morons out there – a WW2 Army manual had 20% of the population listed as "Morons". Drive around sometime and you’ll see what I mean, or go to the mall (when no one is shooting at you, eh) and the morons are everywhere. It’s well over 20% now, I think.

But I’m a "stuck-up" Cat anyway.

***

Morons are a big part of the population in Washington DC, it looks like. A lot of morons are republicans, it looks like. Looks like a lot of them work for SS too. Dipshits.

***

In a month, it will be the start of my 14th year here.

***

A mixed bag tonight, mostly so I could write "12-12-12".

Pour me another shot of that Evan Williams, willya?

What do they mean by morons? People without common sense? People who cannot think for themselves? We have quite a few of both where I work. Employees with opinions are bad, loud, outspoken, problematic. “They want obedient workers – employees just smart enough to run the machines yet too stupid to realize how badly they are being screwed.” I read that in a news article today

I think they bank on that in the general population. I also think that where I work, a government institution, they see people like me as a threat. They don’t want innovation, ideas, problem-solving. That would be too scary. Too different. Too efficient.

Imagine the stuff that would get done if it were different. I have seen first hand the government’s inefficiency at work.

You sound chipper…like you still have some fight. That’s good.

Well said Cat!

RYN: Oh I can tolerate weather outside those ranges I listed. I just don’t want to spend weeks or months there. *chuckles* Yes, September would be the time I’d like to visit. 🙂 Just gotta find the cash. Though, I wouldn’t mind seeing the falls in winter time, even though it would be crazy cold (for this Texas gal). 🙂 Light of heart,
