Entry #1 – They are eating the Christmas Tree!
When we got rid of the kids (well, for the most part anyway…they do have a tendency to keep coming back! lol), I was really looking forward to having less housework to do. I did not realize just how much work two old pets can be. We have been cleaning up an awful lot of messes by these two lately. Of course it is expected that given their ages of 15 years each, that they would get sick more often and we dutifully, clean it up and shampoo the rugs and so on. But I really don’t see the need to make it worse by eating the Christmas tree!!
At least they don’t fight over the same parts. The cat is puking up the tinsel while the dog is puking up the branches. Grrrr. Silly me, I thought all the pine needles and ornaments on the floor were because she was trying to look out the window the tree is in front of! I love my dog to bits and pieces (the cat not so much! lol) and dread the day we lose them, but I really don’t think I want another pet for awhile after they leave us. I want to enjoy not having the responsibility for a little bit.
So our tree is up, the Victorian waltz is up, the skating rink and the Dicken’s Village also. The outside lights will go up as soon as Dennis finishes fixing the porch roof which is almost done. Now all I have to do is set up the 20 boxes containing the Rudolf Village. That takes a little more effort since it has to be set up in a few different spots because I don’t have a place big enough for the whole thing! Well, that’s what I get for letting myself get sucked into one of those one house a month clubs thinking there would be an end in the foreseeable future. I finally had to beg for mercy and my release from them. I even offered our oldest child….well, specifically we offered our oldest child’s wife! We don’t like her much anyway!
They didn’t want her either though! Bummer! LOL!
There’s not much else going on around here. Steven has his appointment to fill out paperwork for his job at Pizza Hut today. He really needs to be working and NOW. Please? lol. That’s not to say we aren’t putting him to work here! He has taken over for me with helping Dennis cut and stack firewood (although he has done it yet, Alysia’s boyfriend has been the only one to help so far…but that will change I promise you! lol) and of course because we are working on the house and he has been certified to become an electrician’s apprentice, we are having him do some things around here.
Yay! I love to see my children working! hee hee
But he is not the only one working around here. Here I am listening to my husband tell me NO coffee breaks for me and to get back to work!
You can’t tell by the picture but I started sipping it reeeeal slow when he said that!
I told him to be quiet and go finish holding back the sea with a pail and shovel…otherwise known as blowing leaves around here! lol
And here is a picture of Alysia and Al working
Haha. Just kidding honey! This picture is actually about a year old. I just like it because they made fun of us ‘old people’ liking our recliners in front of the big TV, but where do they end up, huh huh? *giggle*
I don’t have a photo of Al and Alysia from Thanksgiving, but here’s Al with Steven! LOL! I have to be sure to do better with photos at Christmas!! Jeez!
Well, I guess that’s about it for news. I hope everyone is having a holly jolly season!!
Are those leaves I see knee high???

Hey, I remember that coffee mug (pointing to it next to Alysia)! I hope Steven finds a job very soon!
