Feels like New Hampshire around here!

If I had not been so tired from working Monday night, I was going to write on Tuesday morning about how lovely it is to be in North Carolina in January. It had been raining a bit for a few days but it was a warm rain and by the time I took Jasmine out for her walk before dawn, it was absolutely luxurious. That is the only word I can think of to describe it. It was so warm and peaceful that we took our time and really enjoyed our stroll. It was the kind of morning that makes me want to curl up on the front porch swing with a cup of coffee and just soak up the moment while the sun comes up. I just need need a front porch swing now! lol.

That afternoon when Dennis got home, he even spotted a crocus in full bloom and noticed that I had quite a few daffodils and tulips with buds ready to pop!  Imagine, a bright yellow crocus in full bloom in January! How wonderful! That is something this girl from up north found simply enchanting.

But all good things must come to an end and it was an end I knew was coming thanks to my hubby’s addiction to the weather channel, and sure enough, the past 2 days have been mighty cold. Still, it’s better than New Hampshire since the cold does not usually bring snow. That was until this morning. It even felt like snow was in the air, something I used to dread and despise up north, but I told Dennis that was something I could deal with now since it only happens once every couple of years down here! So he took off early to try and beat the bad weather and traffic and I headed right upstairs to change and get Jasmine out for her walk. That took all of 10 minutes and I was surprised that it was already spitting snow and ice! Our walk was not so leisurely and luxurious this time! It’s a good thing we took pictures since I am sure my pretty little flowers are gone now. *sad sigh*

We do have good news though…we won the lottery! Yup, we got 2 numbers and a powerball and Dennis will pick up his winnings tonight! All $7 of it! Hey! The important thing is we WON!

Other good news is that I have FINALLY finished the stitching part of Stephanie’s baby announcement cross stitch! When I think of all the detailed projects I have done in the past like the humoungus tablecloth and tablerunner for my mom, and an intricate Christmas stocking amoung other wallhangings etc., it just disgusts me to no end that this tiny little 6 inch square "weekend project" as it’s described, almost was too much for me! But I need new glasses. Mine are 5 years old and since I simply couldn’t see the work without a magnifying glass, I guess it’s time to make an appointment for stronger lenses. *sigh*  But it’s done now except for the backstitching and his name and birthweight etc. Then it will be framed and shipped off before he’s 6 months old. Yay again!

And we got PAINT! Woo baby! We picked it up last night and it’s going in the stairwell and hallway upstairs. It’s called Peach Frost and with the new tiffany style light, I think it will make the whole area bright and cheery but elegant. At least I hope so! I must have gone through the paint chips 5 or 6 times standing up in the hallway both at night and during the day trying to see which color looked best. I kept coming back to the same color though so I think I am worrying that I picked the wrong color for nothing. I went through the same anxiety with the green color in the family room but it turned out even better than I’d hoped.

Well, I guess that’s all the news for now. I have to clean my kitchen (boy, do I have to clean my kitchen! lol) and then work on the cross stitch a little and then it’s to the PAINT! Oh, and Dennis sent off his resume to the new school yesterday! Luck seems to be with us since their website says they are looking for a math teacher:) They are also looking for a sign language interpreter which is what I am going back to school for and why we’re moving to that town. Of course I can’t get the job yet but I took it as an omen that it was listed along with the job Dennis is trying for! He does not find sending in his resume quite so exciting as I do. He finds updating his resume and applying for a job tedious, but I told him since I didn’t have to do any of that, it’s exciting for ME! LOL! I am such a supportive wife eh?

Off to kitchen with me! Bye for now…

Oh wow! Nothing was sticking outside when I came in half an hour ago, but I just looked out the window and everything is blanketed with snow now! A rare sight around here! I’ll have to take photos!

Hubby came home early and uploaded my pictures for me so here they are!

Tuesday:

I wasn’t too surprised to see the green shoots coming right up through the leaves, but I was very surprised to see that there were actual buds…and lots of them!

But only 36 hours later on Thursday before dawn, this is what it looked like in our yard:

Pretty cool how the snowflakes showed up in the pictures isn’t it? Anyway, I was very impressed! LOL!

RYN: Yes – well, that’s day one. I hope the enjoyment continues – for everyone. In my former life, I was a sign language interpreter. I loved it. Physically there, yet not really – an interpreter exists as ears and eyes – well, and hands. Took a lot of pressure off. No responsibility for what goes on in the classroom beyond communication. Very needed, therefore satisfying, job.

Thanks for your note! My snowdrops are out already, too. And the daffodils will not take too long. I have seen some in full bloom already on a south facing lawn in town. I love daffodils! They are so cheerful. Take care,

We had crocus blooming here too. You all got way more snow than us, just a few flurries here. Thanks for your note, he’s can be a bit thick at times. A weekend away is more than needed. Keep your fingers crossed for that. and yes it’s really cool how the snowflakes show up in the photo. Kind of like being inside a snow globe. Perty :>)

He meaning my husband.

The weather turned quickly cold here in N. California as well. No snow, but a big BRRRRR factor

We have confused plants too! I don’t wear glasses when stitching. A standing reading lamp helps. “Peach Frost” sounds yummy! Have fun! 😀

Oh, I forgot to ask…did Mom tell you about John and Margaret at the 4 Seasons convenience store going on Jay Leno show on Tuesday?!

There is a great news video taken on John and Margaret before they went to CA… http://cbs4boston.com/topstories/local_story_004221038.html

RYN; LOL, funny funny, LOL :>)
