I had a kick-ass weekend!
Then I got my ass kicked. First of all, Dennis made awesome progress on the yard. He finished the steps and got going on this ‘valley’ we had right in front of the porch. It needed alot more dirt than we thought to fill it in, but he kept at it and after 2 days, he had just about finished it. He also got 2 birds with one stone by using the dirt he dug up from another part of the yard that needed to leveled. I cannot get over the difference it makes in the yard, not to mention the all important curb appeal!
As for me, I kept busy in the house and really got a hold on it. I had all 3 bathrooms clean top to bottom, the kitchen got a good going over too along with the floor washed, and between the two of us, we managed to haul out a few pieces of furniture from our room and rearrange it (again to be more appealing) and then I got busy also cleaning that top to bottom. I could almost let the neighbors come in and show them around! lol. I still had more to do but I had a momentum going and I couldn’t wait to keep going on Monday. Neither could my honey since he has this week off from school. Yay!
Yesterday, FireFaerie turned 22. And just like that day 22 years ago, I spent the day writhing in pain…and kinda for the same reason! No, she’s not getting a baby brother or sister! LOL! You see, 22 years ago on April 2, I went in to the doctor’s for my check-up and he says – and I quote- "Go home, you’re not doing anything for at least another 2 weeks!"
I say "OK, but I have a kidney infection and need something for it." He smiles indulgently, gives me some crap about pregnancy discomfort yada yada yada, but I am insistent. I have had one before I tell him and I know what it feels like and pretty soon I am going to be in a lot of pain. He just wants to get rid of me by now so he relents and lets me give him a urine sample.
To make a long story short, by 6:30PM I have given birth to FireFaerie and this guy shows up to tell me that my urine sample came back positive for a kidney infection! Well, no shit Sherlock! Since then I have only had a few scares of the infection returning and have always been able to head it off at the pass with a quart of cranberry juice.
But Sunday night all the way into Monday morning, I am uncomfortable and can’t sleep, which is strange since the ultra clean bedroom and rearrangement of it has really helped us to sleep better. But by 5AM, I KNOW I have a kidney infection.
And strangely enough, it has been 22 years to the day since my last one. Weird huh? Anyway, the juice doesn’t do any good and by noon, I just can’t take it anymore and am asking my honey to take me into Urgent Care.
This doctor doesn’t believe me either though!! Jeeeez! She tells me that’s not where my kidneys are yada yada yada…but I KNOW what a kidney infection feels like and I can’t take the pain much longer, so they put the sample under the microscope and guess what? Yup, the very beginnings of a kidney infection. So I finally got my antibiotic and painkiller prescription and even with the 30 minute wait at WalMart, we were home in 2 and a half hours! Not bad. Emergency rooms are routinely 3 hours before you even get seen and they cost alot more.
Unfortunately the painkillers did not kick in for awhile so I spent the rest of the night still writhing in different degrees of pain, but I woke up feeling sooooo much better this morning. I felt so good that I called into work to let them know I would be in tonight. Then I had to call them back at noon to let them know I had been too ambitious telling them that! lol. Oh well. The pain comes and goes, but the medication should get rid of the infection soon, which is good because the pain killers are almost gone!
So I did not get to call my little girl on her actual birthday, but it sounds like she is having fun anyway:) But I think I am going to take antibiotics for a week leading up to her 44th birthday! LOL!
Wow, you’ve been busy. Sounds like great progress on the house. You’ll end up liking everything you’ve done you won’t want to move ; >) Sorry about the kidney infection, I hope it didn’t hurt too much. I’ve never had one, I don’t think? I’m off to wish firefaerie a Happy B-day. You take care, hugs.

Jeez… what’s up with your stupid kidneys? Tell them to settle down. Did you at least get good painkillers? I hope it goes away soon since you caught it at the beginning of the infection. I love you!
