Kids and pets
It’s only the second full day home and I have already noticed a marked difference in the boys this year, even from Christmastime when we had them. They are going to be 11 and 12 in September and they have begun the descent into teenage-dom. By that I mean they have begun to sleep in like teenagers! Up until now, they have always been up with the sun. Last year I could barely get Dennis out the door to work at 6AM before they would be up looking for breakfast. This was a bit draining when I had just come in from working all night! This year though, I was ready for them since I quit working before they got here. I was ready to be awake when they were and ready to tackle the day. But here I sat until 7AM. So I did some laundry. Then it was 8AM. I decided I could indulge in any programs I had saved on the DVR. They were over pretty quick and then it was 9AM. Hmmm, what to do? I wrote an email to my honey, took out the garbage, did some more laundry, pulled something out to thaw for dinner, went outside for a quiet cup of coffee, read up on my favs here on OD. Finally, they wandered up at 10 AM! Wow!
I told my honey I was tempted to wake them up I was so bored but knew I would regret it so I resisted! LOL! I was right. They are up and all they want is DAD. Mom just doesn’t make the cut for pre-teen boys I guess! So one wanted breakfast, the other didn’t. Too bad I say, I only serve a meal once so what do you want. One wants cinnamon toast, the other says no, "that’s disgusting!" Ok, we have cereal. Trix or Cinnamon Toast Crunch I say with a grin and he says "Yes! Cinnamon Toast Crunch!!" Huh? I thought that was disgusting??
One wants to watch TV, the other wants to play video games. No video games this early because I CANNOT STAND THE SQUABBLING!!!! We won’t fight they say. Yeah sure I say! I also say No Way! The only thing these two do agree on is that neither one wants me to pull out their bikes so they can play outside. No, they must have the TV up too loud and play with their noisy remote control cars. They are not being nasty about anything, and I feel kinda bad for them. They are only killing time until Dad gets home so I will put up with it:)
Now for the pets. The cat has moved out for the summer until the boys leave. She is old and has bad memories from when they were small. I can’t imagine what two small kids could have done to traumatize her so! (Remembering FireFaerie trying to get close to our cat in her walker and running over his tail one too many times! LOL!) So she moves out and lives on the porch…and runs to hide whenever they emerge!
Jasmine is old now too the poor thing. And now she has diarrhea. She had an accident in the basement last night and even on the second floor where we were sleeping, the air was rank and putrid from it! I hadn’t seen the mess before I took her out for her walk but I had a pretty good idea what I was in for when she stood still and it all shot out straight from her bum…on the Harrisses front yard no less! Here we go again being the neighbors from hell! LOL! It couldn’t be helped though. And I obviously couldn’t clean it up, not that I would have but at least I had an excuse this time! I usually run her through the woods out back to avoid this but she is sick and not up to it today. And as bad as the smell and mess was, I was at least grateful that she did it on the cement floor and not on our carpet again. Dennis doesn’t think I’m serious when I say no more pets when we lose these two, but I at least need a break! I am so tired of cleaning up puke and poop and pee from these two off our carpets! *sigh*
Well, the joy of motherhood calls…one is watching TV and can’t hear over the remote control car the other is running around him and I can’t hear myself think over the squabbling! I still haven’t had a chance to let Calgon take me away in our new tub and the need is growing stronger by the minute! LOL!
Thank goodness for teenage-dom, huh? Millions and millions of parents’ lives have been saved by it, I bet! Alysia had a walker once? What did I miss?

I’m so glad I was eating when I decided to read this! See if she’ll eat some Pepto. Enjoy your quiet mornings while the boys sleep. 🙂

Oh, she meant a baby walker. Whatever those silly things are called.
