Yesterday’s Storm

My son and I went out yesterday afternoon to walk the dog and pick up a job application for him at a local store.  Probably not more than a mile away.  On the way back, it started raining.  Then, a lot more than rain.  Giant fireballs from high tension power lines, branches flying everywhere, blinding rain and wind.  Here’s what the front looked like after we got home and dry.

we got caught by that initial front edge.

We live about where the "g" is in "Arlington".  We ended up running home thru that initial edge of the storm.

They had predicted possible scattered thunderstorms.  Ahem.

Actually, it was pretty exciting and fun, considering we’re all okay. we did lose power at the house about 3 hours later, but it came back on sometime overnite.

take care

Jude

i live in the same area, and it was pretty bad.

Glad to hear that you’re all ok. Have a great Thursday. xo

I was reading this thinking how much fun that must have been. We have the most boring weather here. Sunny and warm is nice, but not every dang day of the year.

The storm did a lot of damage in MD. We live on the northwestern side of the bay and luckily we were mostly spared the brunt of it. Our dogs hate thunder and get wacky. That was the worst part.

Glad you’re okay. If only Weather Man talked more with Mother Nature eh?

I saw it on the news last evening. We were spared, except for some rain.

That’s a wide band of storm activity!

I only know about this from the hurricane-looking hot spots you showed yesterday and another diarist whose airline travel was disrupted. I guess all the tornadoes in the flat states have innured the press to storms and unless somebody’s grandmother gets impaled on a tree limb they aren’t news any more.

That looks like a doozy.

my goodness. i heard it was a bad storm. 🙁 i’m glad everyone is alright. 🙂

I love storms….ok not the deadly ones, but oh yeah, thunder and lightening, I love to see again.

It’s fun to run around in the rain…except when there’s lightening!

Eek, glad you’re alright!

We lost power for about 18 hours over here. I watched the storm go past from the 9th floor corner windows in my office. It was pretty (and I don’t use this overly used word lightly) awesome. 🙂
