Almost Kid-less
Looking forward to a whole week of absolutely no kids around.
My son left today for 10 days of fencing camp in Massachusetts – the ex is driving him and his buddy up, the buddy’s mom will retrieve them at the end of the month.
My daughter moves into her dorm this coming Saturday – we’re really hoping that she can handle things – she’s not been very attentive to self-care, in terms of eating properly. So far, she’s on med for
— seizure disorder — Keppra, although I strongly suspect she wasn’t really having seizures, instead she was having
symptoms of…
– orthostatic intolerance — the adrenal glands don’t adjust blood pressure and heart rate when she stands up, leading to lightheadedness. she’s on a steroid for that right now, but basically she needs to be in better physical shape and be more attentive to the signals her body is sending her.
– sleep problems – I don’t think she’s had a real good nite’s sleep in like 6 months – so they started her on an anti-depressive yesterday which is supposed to help with sleep. I’m sure it will – hope she doesn’t get too zonked on it tho – classes start next week and she doesn’t have a long adjustment period.
Anyway, very soon, very soon, no kids for a whole week. And Sweety is off, and I’m on vacation too till the end of next week. Sorely need time off to just be. Cook, bike rides, socializing with friends. We’re having a "staycation". Likely will do some more painting too.
take care folks, talk to you soon
-Jude

A staycation sounds wonderful. Enjoy yourselves and don’t do anything I wouldn’t do!! (For the record that leaves it wide open). *smiles* Have a wonderful week.

Oh my God, I hate the word ‘Staycation’. Sorry, I don’t mean to come here and say things like ‘HOW DARE YOU USE WORDS I DON’T LIKE!’, it just drives me nuts! Vacations spent at home don’t need a new word made up for them. Grrrrrrr. Anyway, I hope you have a nice time off work and that, enjoy!

ryn: Oh, I am SO up on the whole Joss Whedon thing. I own these on iTunes, and you can bet I’m going to buy the DVD when it comes out — they wrote an entire commentary for the movie set to music…a whole other soundtrack! I love that you know all the Firefly stuff too. Nathan Fillion is awesome.

ryn: Just re-read your note about iTunes, and had a *duh* moment. See, they’re going to release the soundtrack too, on CD and via iTunes, and then I can listen to it on my non-video iPod. *hugs*

Kids are wonderful, even better when they’re not home. Usually. I hope that the routine of classes will help your daughter with remembering things like eating. I hope your son has a good time at the camp as well. That sounds awesome! Have a wonderful staycation! RYN: We’ve never had fleas before, so worms was just terrifying. Plus, I’m me. I freak out if the pillows are facing the wrong way on the bed. Hugs, John
