Car Pooling

It’s Friday night!  Favorite part of the week for us working saps. Even if you love your job (I do) it can’t be as good as having the freedom to do whatever you want. This is the 3rd weekend in a row I’ll be home. I already feel grounded so I don’t mind getting out for a kayak or something. I will get another ride on my bike. Did 25 miles on Monday but that was the only ride of the week.

I started to car pool with another guy at work this week.  We tried it a time or 2 before but we weren’t that motivated. Now with gas prices above $3 a gallon, the motivation goes up some. Honestly $3 gas is not that big a deal but it gets me thinking about what a waste it is not to share a ride. I live less than 1/2 mile from the highway as the crow flies but it’s 1.3 miles on the road. When Steve drives I walk to McDonalds near the ramp and he picks me up. When I drive, he comes to my house. No big deal when you figure we then drive another 19 miles each way together. It feels good to take some action to save the planet resources and also not contribute as much to the oil conflict.

I fixed the basketball hoop in the driveway so I’ve been able to shoot some hoops again. I gought a new rim and cut a sheet of plywood to support the plastic back board. The hoop is better than ever. The extra weight causes the ball to bounce of the board.  I guess the nice weather along with watching the Caveliers play gets me excited. LeBron James kicked butt last night in Detroit. He scored the the teams’ last 25 points and Cleveland won in double OT! What a game. The Cavs can finish off Detroit tomorrow night at home. I’m rooting for them.

At work I pulled together a recommendation for the VP and sold him on it. Feels good.
