Gentle Hearts:
Hubby and I have settled quite nicely in this little town and thanks to his Dad and sisters we’re moving on along! Hubby has started his fourth week at his new job and he is liking it extremely! He’s giving me £100.00 a month of splurging money and he’s taking good care of me.
The weekend was great! All of us were invited to a BBQ at his sister Sue’s house. We all had a great time! Sue and her husband, Graham grilled some salmon steaks, chicken steaks, small burgurs and sausages on the Barbie. She served salad, corn chips, onion dips and jacket potatoes on the side. The highlight of the Evening was when they hushed the lights and brought out a lighted Birthday Cake for me and Hubby to celebrate both our Birthdays properly…the British way! We both share a birthday month….March! My Birthday is on March 7th and Hubby is March 16! We’re the March Hatters!
Today was quite a busy day! I showered, then went to the Post Office to post this job application at one of the college libraries here. They have a vacancy for an Assistant Librarian. I filled out an application, typed a cover letter and enclosed my CV along with the letter of Reference that my boss at the Library in New Jersey did for me.
I had a snack at one of the small cafes here in town. I had a scone and Tea and sat in the Bistro outside the cafe and enjoyed my morning. I enjoyed seeing the people walking up and down and saw our regular postman peddling his bike uptown!
I made Hubby and I some chicken and dumplings for Tea tonight. It came out quite deliciously! I have also made another sourdough bread starter. I’m baking the loaf tomorrow. I’m becoming quite a baker! I did some shopping in the afternoon and booked an appointment for tomorrow to have my hair trimmed and blow dried!
Marriage becomes me and I love cooking, tending house and taking care of hubby! I know it sounds odd but I enjoy this responsibility and the sense of new found feedom I have found here in Oxford. I can do whatever I want…go to the library….cook…go around the town…anything I want with no restrictions at all and no one to critize me and say that I’m doing it all wrong! I do have to follow some rules and am bound to listen to Hubby, of course, but there is no pressure from anyone and no dictation on what I can and can’t do! I’m a new woman here and its about time I did some growing up and excert my power of being a woman and the power of making my own decesions and be the unique individual woman that I am!
It’s about time!
I did have a little hiccup tonight. I bought this microwave rice cooker and as we were sorting dinner my sister-in-law asked what was burning! We all looked and the microwave was smoking! The plastic had melted through the pan and burned a hole right through the rice-cooker leaving a burning hole!
Tony, my Father-in-Law grabbed hold of the rice-cooker, turned the microwave off and stood near the sink scrubbing burnt plastic off the microwave turner! We all laughed about the incident and Tony threw some potatoes in the oven and Hubby and I had our chicken and dumplings with potatoes and slices of bread. Hubby doesn’t like rice! He loathes it! My sister-in-law said that he had jinxed the rice cooker!
Good luck with the job.
