Spring Bank Holiday

Gentle Hearts,

We’re enjoying the Spring Bank Holiday here in the United Kingdom.  It was heaven spending the Holiday with Hubby!  On Saturday we were all invited for a BBQ at his sister, Kim’s house!  She and her husband put some hamburgers and sausages on the Barbie and we all had a nice time in Kim’s garden!  It was very relaxing and I had a glass of pink wine!

I phoned my parents yesterday afternoon and the first thing that came out of Dad’s mouth was…’I see that your husband has manipulated your money again!’  He just can’t stop being paranoid and over-critical about Alex! He wanted to know why I had to resign from the Library job over there and when I tried to explain to him that my boss told me that it was illegal to look for work here while still on leave of absence and that he required a letter of resignation from me before he could issue a letter of Refrence Dad exploded saying that that was not what my boss said. How can he know if my boss addressed the E-mails to me!  He doesn’t know!  He really needs to chill! He’s under the notion that Alex is manipulating my money and will gobble up my Pension money as well! Little does Dad know that as soon as I get the Pension cheque I’m depositing it in an ISA Savings account here!  Here is the letter of recommendation that my boss wrote me:

To Whom It May Concern:

I am highly recommending Mrs. Mary Aris’ qualifications of a senior library assistant.

Mrs. Mary Aris had been worked at West New York Public Library since 1985. She was a junior library assistant. She learned quickly to handle tasks at busy circulation desk. When the library installed first automated circulation system, she was able to follow the instructions and managed check in and out using computer system in 1988. After the system updated to more sophisticated level in 1993, she was able to move up with new skills in automated system. Mrs. Mary Aris then took the responsibilities of handling programs and activities in children’s department under supervision until 1996. Based on her experiences in children’s programs, the library director assign her as a department supervisor to conduct daily operation of children’s department. Such duties included acquiring books, magazine, video, and other materials, creating and perform activities for ages from 1 to 15 and grades from pre-school to high school, monitoring circulation desk, and teaching kids how to use library and computers. During the recent years, Mrs. Mary Aris learned and updated her skills in new technology. She is able to use Windows, Microsoft Office, Printing Shop, and other software. She had improved her jobs by using computers.

I am impressive in Mrs. Mary Aris’ personal characters that bring the value to the library. She was friendly and honest to others. She abided by library rules and regulations. She often submitted good ideas and suggestions to library director.

I believe that Mrs. Mary Aris’ strong work experiences will bring the value to new position.

I am grade to write this reference on behalf of West New York Public Library and highly recommend Mrs. Mary Aris.

Please contact me at the above address should you have any questions regarding Mrs. Mary Aris’ qualifications.

Sincerely yours

Weiliang Lai, Library Director

This is a beautiful letter of recommendation!  My boss is thrilled and happy for both of us! He supported our decision to move here and he has told me that marrying Alex was the BEST thing I’ve ever done!

It’s so beautiful here!  Today the sun is shining and there is a Festival across the street at the Park.  Alex and I and his family are all walking over to enjoy!

Found you as a random entry. You remind me of my roots. My mother is Mexican, dad is Guatemalan. All that cooking and flan making reminds me of growing up w/ my granny. It was a pleasure to read your entries… I couldn’t see any of your pics, except the tortilla pic. oh well..

That is a great letter. It should ensure you get a good job. Your father needs to learn to trust Alex.
