Concept album

I love music.  There is nothing in the world that can pick me up, bring me down, heat me up, give me chills, make me think, make me relax… it can do everything.  Why though?  Why is it that music does this to people?  I was reading that scientists have researched this and through some sort of brain activity music notes are actually a language in it’s self.  That is why people have a certain taste of music, because subliminally they like what the music is saying to them.  But I think it is more than that.

One thing I love about modern music is the “theme album”.  They are so great!  A theme album isn’t just a collection of songs, but an album that revolves around one central story line or idea.  Some of my favourite theme or concept albums are;

Pink Floyd – Animals
Pink Floyd – The Wall
Green Day – American Idiot
Weezer – Pinkerton
Offspring – Americana
Gorillaz – Demon Days
NIN – The Downward Spiral

All solid albums start to finish.  If my life was to be a concept album it would consist of heart break, love for life, a drive to succeed, a feeling of emptiness
