New Compu’

I purchased a new computer, it was delivered surprisingly fast. I ordered it last Wednesday, and it was here on the following Tuesday. Here are the specs:

Intel i7 920 @ 2.66Ghz
9GB DDR3 Ram
1GB nVidia GeForce GT220
1TB HDD
$700

It came with Windows Vista Home Premium installed on it. I first booted it up and it took 3 reboots and 30 minutes for Windows to configure it. I booted into Windows first because I didn’t want to format the machine and then find a piece of hardware is defective. So after I found everything to be working correctly. I formatted the machine and install OpenSuse 11.2. The format, install and boot to the desktop where I was up and running took 22 minutes. Windows is such a joke. I really don’t understand why people stick with something that is obviously inferior. The computer just flies, I am really enjoying it.

Life is good. Debbie and I are thinking we may move back to Toronto. The “slower pace” of life out here takes some time to get use to. I feel it comes off as laziness and disorganization a lot of the time. I like to know ahead of schedule what is going on, I like organization. Debbie is also finding a hard time getting a job. There is no real point of staying out here when she is making a 1/4 of what she can. I can just find another job in Toronto and she will then be able to work in her field again. I also really dislike the direction the company I work for is headed. So maybe it is time for me to move on anyway. We are going to stay out here for the summer and move back in the fall most likely if it is going to happen.

Music of the Moment: None.
Today I Feel: Pretty good
