Why Hello There

I think I solved my internet issues…I got one of THESE so I don’t have to use my outdated and really slow Netbook anymore.  Oddly it had gotten really hard to use since I tried to update it to Windows 8. A process I was assured would work and yet…anyways.  It’s like the perfect blend between a tablet and a laptop.  Just the right size and lightness to carry but use easily.  And it’s toally expandable via SD card or USB port-of which there are two a 2.0 and a 3.0 as well as an HDMI.  The price was also perfect as I really didn’t want to spend more money on another gadget.  Especially since this isn’t "Really" a computer.  But my point is so far so good.

Um…so I had my first Crown put in this morning.  Or rather they drilled away most of one of my big molars because the filling inside of it had cracked and needed to be replaced but the size of it made it next to impossible to safely replace as a filling so the dentist decided the best course of action would be a crown.  Yay?  Right now I have a temporary crown and right now I can only hope that it starts to feel better because in addition to being a bit tender it’s pretty sensitive.  Motrin is the name of my game today.

I’ve only been to the gym a few times this month and it’s been really hard to keep up my motivation but I’m not off track.  Down a whole 2 pounds this month! Woo-Hoo!!  LOL.  Ok not great, but there’s always tomorrow.

This week is Vivien’s cardiologist appointment.  I’m really not looking forward to that. I don’t even want to talk about it.

As far as vacations go just when I think I’ve decided on the cruise…I think I should go for Disney World…lol.  But it will either be the cruise or nothing.

I had a fun idea for our Easter, I’ve been collecting some small stuff for Vivien’s basket, but I’ve been thinking about an egg hunt but didn’t want to do a bunch of candy at her age.  So taking a cue from one of my Favorites here I bought a Mrs Potatohead and an extra set of accessories and I’ll split them into various Easter eggs for her to find.  She seems to enjoy putting things in the right place so I think it will be a good gift.

At her 18 month check up this month the Dr made the comment that she’ll probably be a good candidate for early potty training, something that’s been nagging at me since. To be honest we’ve been playing with the potty and talking a lot about going potty for a while now.  Recently I heard about The Potty Bootcamp, a book about toilet training toddlers under 2 as apparently the theory that waiting until kids are ready is a new one that was popularized by studies funded none other than Proctor & Gamble, aka people who make disposable diapers.  I figure it can’t hurt anything so after searching my Library for a Kindle version (nope) I bought one.  And….we’re on step one with marginal success.  Step 1 involves sitting on the potty for a period of time-even if it’s 30 seconds after each diaper change and at least trying to make it to the potty before or during um you know.  And on 2 separate occasions she’s actually done a number two in the potty!

Mad celebrations were had on those occasions. She had NO idea what was going on.  Also I should disclose that Vivien stays on the good side of constipation so it’s pretty easy to catch her in the act of a number 2 and the potty we have was purchased because the Dr recommended it as a way to make it easier for her to go.  She’s never actually made it that far though.  Both times that she did it we were in another part of the house and I asked if she was pooping, each time she responded either by nodding or saying yes.  Then I asked if she wanted to go sit on the pink potty (What we call it) and she took off towards it, I managed to rip the diaper off in time and she sat on her own.  However there’s been about 10 other times that it hasn’t gone that well in the same scenario.  So I don’t know how effective it is.  But…right now I’d rather rinse a potty out than spend $50 on diapers each month.  Either way, we’ll see how it goes with this.  It’s not hard to sit on the potty after each diaper change (to clarify you sit before the clean diaper goes on). She’s young, it’s early and obviously I shouldn’t push this.

For the record I’m not pushing it. Because really I haven’t brought this up at school yet and I’m not sure that they’ll agree with toilet training so early.  They are pretty progressive and supportive.  But I really don’t know about the logistics of having a toilet trained kid in a room full of diapered kid.  There isn’t an in-room bathroom so it might not be good.  I’ll talk with them next month maybe.

UM….

I think that’s all I’ve got
