A nice week

Normally this would be "hell" week for me at my other job.  But since they layed me off it has been smooth sailing this holiday season.  I am enjoying it so much, NO WALMART!!!  It feels so nice.  I did have lunch with my old boss yesterday and she is almost in tears.  One store asked why she didn’t spend more time in their store.  She reminded them she has three stores and that the store she was at is a video only store.  The other two stores are books, childrens books and video.  Video really takes top priority this time of the year.  But books still have to be worked.  It made me feel good I wasn’t there this year.  It is one reason why I started to look for a different job last year in January.  I hate Walmart people this time of the year.  They have no clue about moving out of the way.  Hogging precious aisle space while chatting away.  They are pretty much clueless.  And yes I know I have been guilty of it but I am very concious of it.

Anyway enough said about that.  I guess one of the girls at work gave her two weeks notice and they are thinking about not hiring anyone else.  Just giving her hours about 35 a week between me and another girl.  Not sure I am up for that since I will be having a very busy summer next year. That means less Saturdays off and I will need a lot of them next summer.  I have graduation, 50th wedding anniversary, older son going off to college.  It’s gonna be a busy summer.  If they cannot accomidate I will be leaving.  I know that will piss people off, but what do I do?  I can’t miss my parents 50th Anniversary or my own son’s graduation party.  It’s always something around here.

Not doing much today but laundry, washing sheets and blankets.  I feel they need it.  Got gifts wrapped and under the tree.  Normally we don’t put anything under the tree until late Christmas Eve but this year we decided to do it early.  I don’t even think the boys have noticed.

Older son is in a wedding this weekend.  I have to work of course so I won’t get to see him.  Then X-mas at my sisters house on Saturday evening.  Of course we will get there late again since I have to work late.  Oh well I am only working 13 hours this week I can’t complain.  I could be at the other job where I work 40+ hours and put up with that.  Our store is pretty slow last week.  I had enough to do on Thursday of last week so I kept busy.  The time went by so much faster.  Back to work tomorrow then off Thurs & Frid and then Saturday all day.  Then off again until who knows when.  Hopefully the schedule is made out for me or I won’t get it until Saturday.

Looking forward to a nice relaxing Christmas. Not worried about having to work the 26th if I have too.  I would have had to with my other job and it would be crazy because it’s Tuesday.  But looking forward to it being a bit busy for the New Year.  I love it when it’s buys and the summer months are busy.  I seem to manage to find things to do since the other girl likes to smoke and stand around.  Not really bothering me since I like to keep busy.

Hope everyone has a wonderful holiday season.  Remember to take it slow and easy and enjoy family and friends.  That is what the season is all about.

Hopefully it won’t piss anyone off to wish you all a Happy Holiday!  Some people only want a Merry Christmas….that too.

Busy, busy, busy. You say take it slow and easy? That’s in the category of: don’t do as I do, do as I say. Happy holidays is good. Merry christmas is good. Both to you. Oh, we did git a half inch of snow last night, but the temp is now up near 50. Being an old cuss, I guess I really don’t care if it snows at all this season.

It seemed like it would be slow & easy around here for Christmas cuz I hadn’t made a plan to do anything. Then all the sudden, we’ve got 3 invitations to gatherings. Which of course we’ve accepted ~ that way, no cooking or cleaning for ME!! 🙂
