One down, one more to go
Christmas for us is over. We still have one more to go, though. Mom and dad will be here tomorrow. They are bringing a LOT of stuff for Derek. Probably just as much, if not more, than we got him. And he got LOTS and LOTS of stuff from us. I’m not even going to try to list it all. But, of all the things he got, you’ll never believe the thing he seemed to like the most. It’s a 50 cent whoppie cushion that Matt’s dad sent for him. *roll eyes* Not the bike. Not the Hokey Pokey Elmo. Not even all the trucks. Running a close second is the coffee pot we got him. It actually drips water through into the pot as if it is really making coffee. Then, he can pour the water into the cup and drink his “coffee.”
It was lots of fun watching Derek open his gifts this year. He really understood the whole concept. Open one, toss it aside without really looking, and rip into another present. I video taped the whole thing so that mom and dad can watch if they want. Other than Derek opening his gifts and playing with our toys, our Christmas day was uneventful, and boring. I was sad to not have any family around. I called and talked to everyone back home a couple of times. This is the first year we’ve been away from home for Christmas, so it was really hard. Matt and I had T-bone steak, garlic mashed potatoes, and green beans for our Christmas dinner. We’re going to cook a ham and other stuff while mom and dad are here.
I bought all my own Christmas gifts this year, but I got 2 sets of pajamas, slippers, make-up, make-up brushes, a massager with 4 different covers and it heats up, some books, and some movies. All of those were from “Matt and Derek.” Even though I bought them and wrapped them myself. I got money from my grandma and Matt and I got a shared Walmart gift certificate from his mom.
I had to go buy another 55 gallon Rubbermaid tub today so that I can go through Derek’s old toys and weed out some of the ones he doesn’t play with anymore. We aren’t getting rid of any of his clothes or toys in case we have a boy for our next child. And, even if not, some of the clothes and toys are good for girls to wear and play with also. It will save us money in the long run. The biggest problem with doing this is finding somewhere to store all of it, though. I think we are going to go rent a small storage shed somewhere to put it all. We have a really small storage shed out back, but that is also where our washer and dryer are at, so I don’t have all that much room in there. And, it’s pretty full, so we don’t have any where to put anymore stuff.
The Christmas tree is still up. Mom requested that I leave it up til after Derek opens their gifts. That’s fine. She can help me take it down. LOL. I went to the after Christmas sales this morning. I got some more Christmas ornaments since the cat broke half the ones that were on the tree this year. I also got some candles, wrapping paper, and gift boxes.
That’s about it around here. Until next time…
Thank you so much for your sweet note, I may take you up on your offer sometime soon. You really helped me feel better;) Glad you had a good holiday! Take care;)
