Canopy
So closely it reaches
Overhead the trees intertwined
Back then it was peaceful
On a warm summer’s night
This view was ours
A hallowed out tree
Birds taking flight
A pond nearby
And the dogs ran through the forest
Whether a snowy or a rainy night
The old log soggy and a creatures delight
A clearing of ferns
Now it’s so close I could touch it and so
Out of reach
It’s a jagged landscape and the hills are too steep
The wolves howl and long to eat
And where fortuned laid
It doesn’t anymore, the landslide is running it’s course
