The Kingdom of Heaven is Inside of Me

“Neither shall they say lo here or lo there for behold the kingdom of heaven is within you”

The kingdom of God is a nonviolent, peaceful kingdom, and people can achieve this by being nonviolent and peaceful themselves.

I don’t attend church anymore, or discuss the Bible with anyone anymore because it was always frustrating to me how it could be twisted and has once again been co-opted to justify atrocities. But I read someone’s diary this morning, and without saying one word about religion, scripture, etc. I realized that they embodied and lived the above text that I lifted from the Gospel of Luke.

I also realized how far away I have wandered from my beliefs and that I no longer live the above. My language is violent. I think my therapist was trying to suggest that to me, and help me change. And now I know what he means when he says I am stubborn. He’s wrong, but also right because I was just not hearing him as he meant to be heard.

Anyway, the diarist I read has inspired me to get back to the business of Love. (Peace, calm, patience…etc)

The kingdom of heaven is indeed inside each of us. It needs acknowledgement and nurturing, and we must recognize it in each other, too.

Kudos to you for being willing to look at what’s going on with you and facing the truth — that’s never an easy thing to do!  Peace, calm, patience…etc. and love … that’s what we all should be living by, but as I said, it’s very hard to do.  I admire you for trying!
