Letters

For some background, click here. Jen is the assistant manager. Mary, who wrote to me this morning, is the manager, manager. Mary manages something like six buildings, so she’s rarely around. Jen, as assistant manager, is there five days per week and basically runs the place.

I received this this morning:

Riely:

I have processed your move out from #160.  The total balance owing is $536.07.  You will be sent a move out statement and your CRP’s.  Please contact me to set up a payment plan.

I also have been informed that you have double booked the community room twice.  Please make sure you are checking the party room calendar before you set up any appointments.  Also please make sure you are having the residents sign the party room agreement and submit a deposit for it.

I do not want the management office open on the weekends.  I want weekend leasing agents to office out of the leasing office.  We have found residents walk right into the management office even when no one is in there.  Please keep it locked.

Thank you;

 Mary

Uuuuuuuuuuugh!
I responded with this:

Mary,

I was unable to make it to the move out as I was scheduled to work at my other job. I will need to see the move out statement before Dave or I make any payments. I want to be sure that we are not being charged for the two hours of cleaning that Jen said were still needed to make the job complete on Monday. It was brought to my attention by caretakers that residents are usually not charged for the cleaning if the cleaning is going to take two hours or less of their time. I want to be sure that Dave and I are being treated fairly, because as of right now I do not feel that that is the case.

My rent credit for the month of December has not been refunded to me. I worked the necessary hours, and would appreciate compensation for those hours. When should I expect to see that money?

If I did book the community room twice I apologize, though I don’t know how that would be possible unless another staff member took a community room booking and forgot to write the apartment number in on the calender. I am genuinely surprised that I am being accused of this. I always, always check the community room calender before booking the room. If a resident calls to book the room I always check the calender and ask them to stop down to fill out the the appropriate paper work when they can. If a resident comes to the office to book the room I always check the book and have them fill out the paper work at that time.

Also, since you placed the letter under my door however many weeks back, I have not left the management office open unless it has been in use on the weekends (when making coffee, balloons, getting packages, keys, filing, etc). Iam always in the leasing office when at Creekside. I appreciate the reminder but am curious as to why you are feeling the need to remind me when I have been following the rules that you have set forth.

Finally, I would like to close by asking you to accept this letter as my two week notice. Creekside is once again slowing down and I cannot afford to keep working there- especially now that I am no longer taking advantage of the rent credit. I have already discussed this with my other job and they have agreed to increase my hours beginning this week. I would like to ask you to please ensure that my shifts on December 19th and 20th are covered by another staff member, as I will be working at my other job on those days.

Thank you,
Riely
