Onward.
I took two pregnancy tests. Both came back negative. Thank God. AND I’m pretty sure that my period finally started today. It’s definitely lighter than normal, but it’s definitely heavier than spotting. I’m 95% sure that there is no fetus in my uterus. All is feeling much better. Whew! Close call. And I will always and forever until I am ready to have a baby check my Nuvaring daily from now on. Freaking birth control. You think that you’re being responsible by being on it and making sure that you do it correctly and then it goes behind your back and somehow, somewhere, falls out of your vagina. Freaking birth control!
(If you feel like you’re missing information, it’s because you can’t see the entry before this one. Let’s just suffice to say that it’s been a stressful week.)
Anyway, today was the best day off ever. I slept in, got ready for the day, and met Dave at his place. Me, him, and his friends Mike and Eston walked to the Twins game in the beautiful sunniness that was today. The Twins lost the game, but it was awesome anyway.
After the game Dave and I went back to his place and relaxed for a little while.
I met my co-worker/friend Jackie at 5 to go look at apartments. We looked at 5- and we decided on one! It’s in uptown (I miss uptown… and can’t wait to live there again)- it’s in the middle of anything. I’m going to be living a block from my sisters, a block from all of the shopping and awesome nightlife, a block from the lakes, a block from Rachel… the location really can’t be beat. The apartment has everything that we were looking for- it was already super cute and awesome visually, but when the landlord offered to put in a dishwasher for free AFTER we offered to pay more in rent if they installed one, we were pretty much sold. How could we pass that up? With the dishwasher added, the apartment officially became everything that we wanted. AND it’s $200 total less per month than we were willing to spend. AND we get our first month free. Seriously. It’s perfect.
Here are a few pictures from craigslist (sorry in advance if they’re already deleted):

This is the view from the living room, looking into the dining room. There is a little hallway past the buffet area. Once in the hallway you can turn to the left and enter the bathroom, turn to the right and enter the room that will be my bedroom, or keep walking into the kitchen. You’ll enter Jackie’s bedroom from the kitchen (which is weird, I know, but she actually said that she’d prefer that room- it’s farther away from the living room and will be more quiet).

View from the dining area, into the living room. Note the french doors leading into the sun room. I love that sun room. It’s so cute! I’m pretty certain that my cat will also love that room.

The building from the outside. A cute little brownstone. I love brownstones.
I’m just so excited. I’m excited to be through with my current living situation. I’m excited to move on. I’m excited to be living with somebody that I really like (not that I don’t really like my current roommate- I just don’t like living with her because she’s messy- she’s a wonderful person). I’m excited to have a female friend that I can spend time with- we’ll clearly be spending more time together and we’re already friends. I’m excited for all of this because I know that Dave will love that I’ll have a life outside of him. And I’ll really like that too- having a life without him. Away from him. Does that make sense?
Maybe it’ll finally give me the balls and the confidence to lay it down for Dave, once and for all. Perhaps I’ll get to that a little later. Another day. Hold me to it.
After the apartment search Jackie and I went to a nearby Thai restaurant and drank a bottle of wine. Dave joined us and the two of them got to really meet each other, which they hadn’t done before. They’d only ever met in passing.
Dave is moving into his new apartment with his poker friend John next week. It’s located on the complete opposite side of town from where I’m currently living and will be living. It’s a short 4 block walk from the new Twins stadium in downtown Minneapolis. The apartment has two bedrooms with a fireplace and exposed brick in the living room. It has floor to ceiling windows all throughout the apartment, two balconies overlooking downtown and the stadium, granite countertops, and stainless steel appliances. They’re paying $3000 per month. And Dave is paying double rent during the month of May to fulfill the terms of his current lease and hang on to the new place. Seriously. Dave keeps talking about getting a pool table and a dartboard and all of these other things. It’s like he’s living out his college fantasy at 27 (well, he turns 27 at the beginning of June)- probably because he never really got to live that out as a teen. He never really went to college.
I feel like I’m mourning the loss of him, in a way. Which may not make a whole lot of sense considering the fact that we’re still together, we’re still fucking like rabbits, and we outwardly seem happy. Again, I’ll get to that.
Work tomorrow. Devotchka/ Gogol Bordello concert on Saturday after my afternoon shift. I’ll likely post pictures of that later.
It’s a very beautiful building.

LOVE THE APARTMENT ! I also love that you got your period. Those types of scares are the worst. This is me holding you to it. With both hands!

ryn: it’s only possible you’ll get flare ups from lyme. the younger you are, the less chance there is of flare ups. my brother got it at 15 or so, and hasn’t had a single symptom since that one time. and i thought you COULD get it from the bigger ticks, though it’s rare? cause doesn’t it come from rodents or something? Then the tick brings it from the rodent to the human? I’ve seen a deer tick

once… and what i had was definitely not a deer tick since it was pretty visible to the naked eye lol so you’re probably right, and i’m probably fine… but i really did think it was still possible to get from the other ticks, too… but if you’ve had ’em 20 times, and haven’t gotten lyme, that puts my mind a little bit at ease. i’ve only ever been bitten two or three other times in my life lol
