It’s cold in Connecticut

I know it’s cold EVERYWHERE, but right now, I’m complaining about MY state… It’s freaking COLD! Damn, the warmest it’s been in the past 36+ hours is like 6 degrees, and it’s windy outside… ugh! I don’t want spring or summer… but I don’t want below freezing! It’s too cold… I just want cold enough to keep snow, a good amount of snow for playing, and “warm” enough to bundle up and play out there without freezing as soon as the wind blows. I don’t think that’s too much to ask… But it’s because I have kids who love playing in the snow that I say that.

If I wasn’t a mother, I would be like, “Give me the freezing below zero temps & wind, I can stay inside with my tea and fire, and stay nice and toasty!” even if I was working, I could still stay inside most of the time and not worry about the cold.

But reality is, I’m a bus driver, and the colder it is outside, the dumber people seem to drive. Like they don’t know that shiny spot on the road is most likely ICE even better is when we’re in the middle of a snow storm, and people think they can still drive the speed limit… Come on now! When it’s crappy weather, all parents should just keep their kids home until the bus goes by, either wait with their kids until the bus comes to the bus stop, & keep them warm, or wait until after we drop off the kids who did freeze to wait for the bus, at school. Then drop off your child who you didn’t want to stand outside for 5-10 minutes waiting for the bus that comes almost the same time everyday. Don’t be one of those parents who say, “Oh, there’s a drop off line, I can go drop you off at the front with the buses.” It’s so annoying! Either show up BEFORE or AFTER us, but not the same time… and we try to go as fast and safe as possible. We’re not going to be letting kids out of a moving vehicle, so you should remember we have around 50-70 kids on each of our buses, and if we can be in and out in under 3 minutes, you can wait until we’re all finished before letting poor little ***** out of your vehicle to get cold walking farther from your car to the school, than they would have had to if they just sat at their bus stop like the rest of the kids.

Just a little cold weather/bus rant. (:

I hope you are all warm wherever you are, Its cold all over the country.

I feel your pain (though not in part of the current cold snap). It’s my first winter in a town that get down to -40 (not to often though…thank goodness). And the wind…arg. Luckily, it’s a smaller town, so driving is not so bad. Regardless…I’m leaving for a less windy, less cold town. I love winter when the temperature hovers just below freezing with no wind.
