Ugh!

This past August my brother moved into an apartment basically on the other side of the fence, in our neighbor’s yard. He gets SSI because he’s got some disabilities…Though, he also milks everyone best he can and blames others for his problems. Like it’s the Cat’s fault that the litter box is overfilled… Or it’s our mother’s fault that he doesn’t pick up trash or do dishes…

I’ve been over there and helped him clean, it took me three hours and an asthma attack to do it. I told him today I wasn’t going to help him again. I have no one to watch the baby and if I can’t breath, there is no way I’m bringing my asthmatic toddler in there. I gave him until Saturday to get the trash picked up and bagged so we can bring it to the dump for him. I can’t go over there all the time and take care of his stuff. I can’t motivate him, he needs to do it himself. I told him simply, if he doesn’t clean his apartment, I can’t let my kids come over. It isn’t fair to them to sit in garbage of another person, in another person’s house. And I also wouldn’t subject them into that filth, if I didn’t need to.

So? I’m not sure what I’ll do Saturday yet, maybe help him? Maybe get him a piece of wood for his bottom step? I don’t know just yet. I’ll figure something out though. Something that makes him Want to clean his house…

What would motivate a man to clean, when the whole reason he moved so close was to see his niece and nephew… I figure, having them over would motivate him… We’ll see. I was there last week & I couldn’t believe what I found! Just a few weeks before that it was CLEAN! but now?

I need to figure something out for him… but I can’t give him a reason to live, or clean, or do anything he doesn’t want on his own. Now that it’s cold, he’s full of excuses why he can’t go for a walk. Though, one reason is legitimate. His front step is broken, his landlord was supposed to fix it before it got too cold to fix. Now I need to get a board and figure out a way to secure it so he won’t fall. UGH!

When did this 33 year old man become MY problem?
