News update
Hi everybody,
We had our monthly TG/TS group meeting last nite, which was fun. I fixed a double batch of the Stir Fried Noodles and Broccoli with meat chicken in it, and a separate batch with vegetarian chicken in it. Surprisingly, the crowd didn’t consume it all. There was a TON of other food there – Erica, another member, is actually in charge of the kitchen at the universalist church were we meet, and we had huge platters of roast chicken and another of a dish much like mine (but blander).
A note on my recipe: it tastes much better fresh and hot. If you need to reheat it, you might want to add a touch of rice vinegar, it’ll help bring the flavors back into focus.
Erica asked for volunteers to help her cook for a teenage LGBT prom in May, and I volunteered. Sweety may come too and act as a chaperone, Jill-of-all-trades, which would be cool. Sounds like a fun time. This church is very accepting of all sorts of folks — apparently, they used to (and maybe still do) let the pagans come and meet in one of their rooms.
Also, the IFGE convention is coming to DC (actually, Arlington, VA) for 2009 and 10. This is tremendously convenient. Sweety and I went to it in ’06 and ’07 — it was in Philly. This year, it was just this past weekend, in Tucson, and we bailed. Sweety has finals this coming week and next, and I really felt like I needed to be here to help run things and tend to her so she could focus on studies. But the point here is that our TG/TS group has been asked to provide volunteers to help run the conventions the next 2 years. I thought about it a while, and decided that I really wanted to get involved. So, I threw my name in the hat last nite. The ’09 convention will be in Feb — I will be close to coming out by then, I think, but I’m not sure I was planning on being full time by then. Regardless, Sweety and I may stay at the hotel anyway, since things go on till late hours, I’d likely be busy early, and it would make it difficult to leave the house in proper mode if my son is here (which he’ll likely be in order to care for the dogs, unless they go to the doggie hotel). or we get dog sitters. hm, that’s an idea.
We have some cute pics of our cat sitting on top of Cera (the new small dog) and I’ll post those when I can find the camera cable to connect it to the computer.
It’s cold and rainy here today, so I’m hanging inside. Sweety is off at a point location party (where a bunch of acupuncture students take turns finding the points on each other and are evaluated by an upperclassperson)..
later folks
Jude
the prom sounds like it will be a great time. Interestingly, my son’s g/f is a pagan.
