Ruling Handed Down Schroer vs Library of Congress
Hi all,
The ruling came out today, in the case of Diane Schroer vs Library of Congress. You can see my previous entry here, but thumbnail…
Schroer is a retired Army Colonel who, as a man named David, applied for a job as an intelligence analyst at Library of Congress. Interviews went well, references checked out, top of the field, gets the job. Is invited in to set details, tells the lady doing the hiring that David is transsexual, and plans to start work as Diane.
The job offer is rescinded, in writing, the next day, because Diane is transsexual.
Goes to court, court found that the Library of Congress was totally unjustified in their actions.
The award was just announced today, and the Obama Administration smarlty decides not to appeal the ruling. Read how much Diane gets here:

I’m glad to hear this. High profile cases like this will eventually get the message through that discrimination against the transgendered just shouldn’t be tolerated!

I’m so glad he’s getting money. On another note, Primetime on ABC is doing a special on Tuesday about married men who transition while married. I don’t know if you’d be interested but thought I’d mention it. So glad to hear that you’re doing well. Thanks for checking in every now and then.

RYN/RMN: To be honest I didn’t even realize I wrote he over she. I’ve been stressed, haven’t been sleeping or eating right and by the time I actually get here to catch up with everyone I barely know my own name. My thought when I read this entry was “Wow, that’s great.” From knowing you and ADogGroomersLife through OD I’ve learned a lot about being transgender and I do realize that it isn’t easy. Before I met you here I never would have noticed the commercial for the Primetime special I mentioned in my first note. Now I find myself watching the TV specials when I see them instead of flipping past them without a second thought.

ryn: Silly me, I didn’t look at their feet. With half a million bucks, Diane will be able to afford plenty of chest waxing–hopefully even after the lawyers’ cut.

No offense was taken on my part. I did feel bad at my slip but like I said I’ve been doing little things like that a lot lately. It’s amazing how one’s body reacts to lack of sleep, stress etc. If I ever get the DC I would love to meet you & Sweetie. I get the impression that you’re both wonderful, warming, down to earth, caring people and those are exactly the type of people I like. Now I’m off to watch your video.
