I’ve been goofing off for a couple of months, but here I am back. I have a plan to eat better. Over the Winter I gained 6 pounds. I can’t figure out why. Normally, I lose weight when we are working such long hours. I worked 6 days a week most of the last 6 months, but instead of losing, I’ve gained. My clothes are all too tight. I feel stuffed all the time. I was planning to go strictly vegetarian but last month I stumbled upon the paleo diet and it seems to make more sense. So, I am trying it starting today. So far, waking up and drinking a big cup of water instead of sugary coffee is making my stomach hurt. That’s not a good start!

You can Google the Paleo diet and find a better description, but basically it is eating the way our ancestors ate for most of human history, or pre-history. From 2.6 million years ago to 10,000 years ago. The basic idea is that since humans ate mostly fruit, nuts, vegetables and meat for all that time our bodies are best suited to eat that. Human bodies are not suited for eating grains, foods that grow underground (potatoes). Sugar, processed meat product (sausages and such), salt, and refined grains are not good for us. The diet is very high in protein and low in carbs. I did not manage to get the organic grass-fed beef or chicken that is recommended, but I will get some on my next day off. I’ve just got to find out how to get out to the local farm that sells it. Eggs are on the diet too.

There is a bunch of psycho-babel that goes with the program that I will not adopt, like grunting while you eat with your fingers. There is another whole set of exercise principles that I will follow.

I will let you know how it works out. In the meantime, here are the latest pictures of Gabriel and stuff from work.

This dog at a house I deliver to was tied to the pickup in the side yard. He found a "toy", a rubber handled hammer. He was carrying it around like he was Ed the carpenter looking for work, but he put it down whenever I came close to get a picture. Funny.

Hey there! I’m glad to hear that you are eating meat — meat is BRAIN FOOD. 🙂 Anyway, its good to have you back and I must say, I mostly eat paleo food without ever hearing of it!

PS — we live in a community of organic tree-hugger types and our neighbor certifies organic farms for a living — he is really strong on grass-fed beef, so we bought some — yikes, it is tough. I’d have a big dentist bill if I kept eating it. Also, it was TWICE as expensive.

Another extreme diet? What your body needs is BALANCE. Oh, don’t get me started! LOL! Water first thing makes my stomach roll, too. I can’t believe how big your grandbaby is getting! They grow so fast.

LOl @ the grunting thing.

Some stuff I’d rather not use my fingers to eat.

I know quite afew who follow the Paleo Diet. I myself limit grains as I do not do well with grains..But I do not eat gluten free processed foods.. those are filled with ingredients that make you gain weight.
