First Going

I don’t want to be here to witness your second coming
Because a second coming means a first going
You’d get my head in such a spin
That I’d be dizzy with such toing and froing

We could play musical statues
And if I never turned on the music again then you’d never move
Destined to stay with me
A game where neither one of us would lose

Such drastic measures borne from drastic times
A desperado committing passionate crimes
Ask me if I love you and I’d plead guilty
I’m more than willing to pay the fine or do time.

But your eyes talk of escapism
Your lips tell of truth evasion
I guess that it’s all adding up now
I’ve managed to balance the most hideous of equations

If this is the first going
Don’t bother about a second coming
I don’t think I could stomach it
And you always said I should go with my gut feelings
