Interview
These questions are from Hopeful, and since I’m feeling rather humorless today, I will answer in as straightforward a manner as possible.
1. What do you think about while trying to fall asleep at the end of the day?
Well, I’m a typical insomniac, so many random things will bounce around in my head before I can finally fall asleep. Usually, I’m concentrating on things that relax me. Lately, I’ve been thinking about the ghostly guitar-playing in "Shine on You Crazy Diamond," and how I need to start playing again (just to have a hobby).
2. What is the one compliment you get most from people? Would you agree?
I’ll tell you this: they never tell me I’m handsome. And surprisingly, no one ever mentions my sense of humor. I have a tendency not to show it for fear that I could endanger the minds of mid-westerners. No, people often mention my sincerity and kindness. Those people don’t know about all the things that are buried in my backyard.
3. What is the most important (or most meaningful) lesson you’ve learned from life thus far?
There really is nothing more expensive than regret. And since this weekend was the 9th anniversary of one of the bigger mistakes I have made (and perhaps the most important, as well), it’s been on my mind.
I wish it was possible to tell her how sorry I am.
4. Do you believe in a "God"? What does "God" look like to you (for example, traditional Christians assign a male gender to him, etc.)?
I have no doubts about the existence of God. And this may not comply with my recent Catholic studies, but I’ve never believed in the patriarchal society that is supposedly represented by Christianity. I blame Greek translations for that. The original Aramaic texts show that Christ said, "I am the fisher of people" and not just of men. But I’ll stop because opinions like this usually get me into trouble.
I don’t believe there is really a physical description for God because anything "physical" is still within the realm of human comprehension. There are only symbols and texts to represent God because it makes it easier for us to understand. God, to me, is more like to Tao, or that thing within your soul that causes you to shiver when you first realize you’re in love.
Oh, and Nietzche was full of crap.
5. Use five (5) words to describe who you are.
Intellectual, Progressive, Sympathetic, Steady, and Witty.

2. I will respond by asking you five questions of my choosing.
3. Only respond if you are willing to answer ANY question that is asked of you.
