Happy Birthday MJ

“So I bought me a ticket,
I caught a plane to Spain
Went to a party down a red dirt road,
There were lots of pretty people there,
Reading Rolling Stone, reading Vogue.
They said, “How long can you hang around?”
I said “a week, maybe two, just until my skin turns brown
Then I’m going home to California”
California I’m coming home
Oh will you take me as I am
Strung out on another man girl
California I’m coming home.”

I’m back. And I’m not sure what I think of that.
It’s just really strange. And familiar.

And I’m not sure it’s right anymore.

And, for those I saw today, if I seemed a little offbeat don’t think anything of it. I was extremely glad to see you again. It’s just a sudden shock after two months on the road… to cease motion.

Sometimes home doesn’t even feel that way.

joni mitchell knows EVERYTHING and so does john darnielle. being home again is always strange after an extraordinary experience. because home is so ordinary and you can’t really stop to appreciate the familiar things at first, i think, because you miss whatever you had before getting back. everything should start to make sense again soon.

joni mitchell is very good

well I hope you had major fun and got the chance to make happy memories that’ll last you forever. *hugs*

the adventure isnt over… its just beginning. or something broad and optimistic like that. welcome home, david.

maybe you`ve grown out of your comfort zone and it`s time to really move on???

You’re back? How did that happen?
