Chapter 8- Holy Hell Woman!
I left Pammy’s driveway feeling worse than when I pulled in, but her mom supported our relationship.
Later that night
I arrived home and immediately went to bed, but couldn’t sleep. I lay in the bed we had shared for almost 8 months, and I could smell her all over our room. I curled up in her blanket; it was my biggest comfort at that moment.
Hours passed
It was a few hours later when I felt the bed shift. I sat up quickly to see Pam crawling into bed next to me. “I am so sorry for earlier, we can talk in the morning, let’s just go to bed,” she said, easing me down into the bed next to her. I noticed she was already in pajamas. “When did you change clothes?” I asked, snuggling into her arms. “I left the bar earlier than the girls, got home and changed. I lay there not being able to sleep, so I texted my mom and she told me to check on you because you weren’t doing well at all,” she said, pressing her face against my back. “You drove over here in your pajamas?” I asked, but before I could get an answer, I felt her snoring against my back. I smiled to myself. “I love you, Pammy Rose,” I said before I closed my eyes. I was honestly dreading the next morning.
The next morning
I woke up to Pam’s hand up my shirt. I sighed in contentment after I fell back to sleep with my face in her neck. I woke up hours later, hearing laughter from the hallway and the sound of my bedroom door closing. I opened my eyes to see Cici grinning at me.
“Pam, the girls are home, so we have to put some clothes on and spend time with them,” I said, not moving from my place against her side.
“Do we have to? I mean, they are 11 and 15. Can’t they entertain themselves for a few more hours?” she said. I didn’t even open my eyes. I looked at the clock.
“Babe, it’s almost noon. We have to get up. I’m going to shower first and see if they want to get lunch, or if I can make homemade pizza.” I said, sitting up on the side of the bed.
“Homemade Pizza sounds amazing, babe,” Pam said, looking at me. I wrapped her blanket around me, standing up from our bed.
After showering
I showered quickly and then went downstairs to find Cici and Nikki watching a movie in the living room. “Hi Mommy,” Nicole said as she returned to watching her movie. “Hi girls, did you have fun at Mee-maw and Pope’s this weekend?” I said, listening to them chatter back at me. “We went to the arcade and met up with Dad yesterday. He tried to get Mee-maw to let him take us home for the night, and we both wanted to go with him, but when Mee-maw asked us, we both said no,” Cici told me honestly.
“I was thinking of making homemade pizza for lunch, is that alright with you girls?” I asked, and they agreed.
Later, in the kitchen
I made and put the pizzas in the oven as Pam came downstairs and put her arms around me from behind. I brushed my hands off on a kitchen towel and then stood in her embrace.
“Are we ok?” she said, holding me close, my head just under her chin. “Yeah, we’re ok. I’m still sad, but I know this is your career, and it’s a huge opportunity for you and the others. I’m sorry I got so upset over the situation, babe,” I said. I felt her kiss my forehead. We had a great day with our girls, eating pizza, playing board games, and watching movies.
Evening
Around 8:30, Pam spoke up. “Mom and I talked, and if you want to be late for school in the morning, I would love for you to come to see me off at the airport.”
“So you’re leaving us?” Nikki said, tearing up.
“Nicole, we’ve been talking about this since January, and it’s unavoidable now. Pam’s leaving tomorrow morning, but she’s going to call and text and video chat with us multiple times a day,” Cici said, trying to lighten the tone of the situation. I was so proud of Cici’s strength because she was the child I was most worried about. Both girls crashed in the living room on my chaise lounge, leaning against Pam.
Later that night
My heart hurt that she was leaving, but I knew I had to put on a brave face for my girls. “I think we should get the girls to bed; I still have to pack up my backpack for the flight,” Pam said before shaking Cici.
“Cici, go on to bed, kiddo, I’m going to carry Nikki to her bed,” Pam said, getting up, loading Nikki onto her back, and heading up the stairs. I turned off the TV and the living room lights and set our security system before heading up the stairs to find Pam standing in our bedroom with her backpack on the bed. It didn’t take her long; she soon zipped up the bag.
I reached into my nightstand drawer and handed her a frame I had been saving. “Here, don’t forget this,” I said, giving her our picture from Nikki’s family day for soccer. “Aw, babe, thank you. I have pictures on my camera roll, but I like this picture. It’s my family. This was our first family outing after our relationship became official,” she said, tearing up. “Yep, I was waiting to give it to you as a surprise,” I said, pulling out one of her t-shirts and a clean pair of underwear. I saw her watching me from the corner of my eye.
“What?” I asked, confused.
“You know those aren’t going to stay on long, right? If you think I’m going on a 3-week trip without touching you before I leave, you’re sadly mistaken,” she said, standing up. She put her bag by the dresser and came up to me.
Much later that night
Hours later, I lay there frozen, worn out, and unable to move. “No more. You wore me out,” Pam said, trying to catch her breath. “For a woman, you sweat a hell of a lot,” I said, trying not to be rude. She was lying on her stomach next to me, trying to catch her breath. “You should see me after being in the ring, it’s gross,” she said, not to sugarcoat it. I gained strength and sat up, looking for the t-shirt and underwear I had pulled out earlier in the evening. We both dressed and lay down for bed. I cuddled into her arms, soaking in the last few hours before we drove into the city to take her to the airport.
“Not being perverted or making fun of you, but did I hear a hint of noise from you tonight?” she said, holding me close. I could feel my face turning red. “You were tickling me,” trying to hide it.
“Oh, was I really?” she said, not truly believing me.
“Yep, and that’s my story, and I’m sticking to it,” I said before my eyes closed.
The next morning
It wasn’t long before I heard Pam’s alarm going off. I felt the sadness seep into my soul. I wrapped myself around her, not wanting to move, knowing she would get out of bed if I moved.
“Babe, we have to get up. I need to shower. Do you want to join me? Then you can wake the girls while I do my hair and make-up,” she said. She didn’t want to move from my side, but she got up.
I watched her walk to the dresser and pick up her outfit, which she had laid out the night before. She got herself dressed, and I went to wake up the girls. Before long, we were in her jeep and on the road heading towards the airport. I sat holding her hand the entire ride.
We arrived at the airport, and she checked in. They allowed us to accompany her to her terminal and stay with her until she boarded her flight. We sat there in silence; that’s when we saw the other girls arriving for the flight. Neither of my girls spoke, and they loved the WWE girls, but they were sad, and so was I. Pam and I left the waiting area and got a cup of coffee at Tim Hortons before heading back with a sandwich for the girls. We heard Pam’s flight being called. I turned to my girls, “Ok, girls, we have to say our goodbyes,” I said, already tearing up. Cici stood up and hugged Pam.
“Bring me back something good, and call me every day. I want pictures of the Eiffel Tower,” she said, trying to keep a smile. Nikki didn’t move from her seat. Pam went over and sat next to her.
“I’m coming back, Nikki, it’s only for a few weeks. I know you’re sad, so am I, but I will return soon,” Pam said before putting her arms around Nikki’s small frame. Nikki didn’t move from her seat. Pam let go, and that’s when Nikki pulled her knees to her chest and lay her face against her knees.
Then it was my turn. Pam approached me and put her arms around me. “Please don’t watch me take off, it will only hurt worse. Take our girls and go home. I will call you when I land.” She hugged me tightly and gave me a lingering kiss before walking to her gate. “I love you girls, I will see you in a few weeks,” she said before she walked on the plane.
