OMG AN ENTRY FROM DAKK!!!!
Well I know I promised an entry to tell you all the stuff that has been going on, but so much stuff has been happeneing and I have been battling that depression demon that I just haven’t done it. Not much of an excuse, but it is mine and I am sticking too it.
Ok lets see… I have been logging in and reading but not noting much.
I can sum the last couple of months up in one word. CRAP
Kal’s car had the AC go out. not too big a dealio – he was taking mine and I was to use his around the area to do grocery shopping and the like – you know it isn’t too too bad with the windows down… Wouldn’t you know it… the very first day I take the car out for a morning’s worth of errands and it starts stalling on me… THREE TIMES the worse one was in the middle of Nova and Mason Avenue. NOT a good place to stall out. So needless to say- it was the tranny. It would cost more to fix the car than it was worth. So in the yard it was sitting…. I am currently with out a car during the week.
Kal needed emergency tooth extraction. I just got the bill the dental insurance did not cover hardly anything.
You all read the entries about my dad.
Cost of living in Daytona keeps going up up up. My house insurance is increasing by 80% this year because of the hurricanes two years ago and Katrina last year. Taxes have gone up… lets talk electricity… The power companies are screwing us. Our power is twice as expensive as other states. So is the water bill.
A friend of ours who lives near Dawsonville GA pays the same for their electric as we do. BUT, now here is the kicker, our electricity last month was $350 and we have a small less than 900 sq ft house and only Kal, Autumn and I. They have a HUGE house somewhrere betwwen 2000 and 3000 sq ft and they have 5 children. Same wierdness goes for water. Our bill was double theirs and they even have a pool and do quadruple the amount of laundry we do.
I am a coca-cola addict… I have drasticallt cut down because a 12 pack of coke here costs over $4. Up there it is below $3.
So my big announcement is this. The Parks family is moving to Georgia. Not tomorrow or anything. No, we have too much to do first. We have to get the house in shape to sell. The market has slowed down a bit here, so we need to try to make it better than it is to try to get it to sell quickly-er. Kal needs to send out resume’s and such.
We are going up there this weekend to scope it out. That is, if we are not hindered by Ernesto. We may have to cancel our trip.
Every day it is harder and harder to live here. Crime in my area has increased dramatically. The corner store has been robbed at least three times this year and he is litterally only a block from our house. The house across the street and across the right was burglurized and a kid two doors down to the left of that house was involved in the beating death of a homeless man. The county’s Air One Chopper is out almost every day over head looking for someone who did something illeagal. This is NOT a good place to raise a child.
So our plan is to move to the Dawsonville/Gainseville GA area somewhere in six months to a year time frame. We need a fresh start.

Wow, it sounds like a new start is what you need. We needed it so badly when we moved to OK a couple of years ago. Gave us a new perspective on things. Do you know anyone in Georgia?

That sounds crazy expensive! Glad you have someplace to go, now it’s just the timing of selling the house & getting a job. Hope everything goes well!

oh! yay for moving! but don’t put that last part up in any house-selling ad. 😉 Kisses

That sounds like a really great idea. I hope you can sell your home as fast as you want to and that you find something you love in Georgia 🙂

The cost of living vs. what the wages are here SUCK!!!! I totally feel ya on that one. We need to hang out again sometime soon. *hugs*

I’ve considered moving to Gainesville. My company has a branch there.

Sounds like a fresh start would be a good choice. Cost of living here in IL is cheaper. 🙂 Hopefully things will happen quickly for ya’ll.

Sounds like a really good plan for you!

I had a favorite who lived in FL and just moved to Georgia!

Be careful about moving to Georgia though. A good friend of mine that lives in the Atlanta area says the unofficial state motto is “Come here on vacation, stay here for probation.” I personally don’t know much about Dawsonville, but Gainesville would not be a wise choice for all the crime that happens there also. I hope you have luck selling your house and luck with your move.

I can’t blame you for moving. Crime is getting bad everywhere. But when you are raising an young child and are home all the time, it gets scarey. Good luck with the move.

Hope you find happiness there. The cost of living is increasing here too-our electricity bill has almost doubled, petrol has gone up but our salaries haven’t. Oh well…

good luck *hugs

Wow, that’s exciting. Good luck with the move!

Good luck with the scoping out and possibly moving!

i’d probably move too! i’m grateful that we live where we do and the cost of living is manageable. my dad moved to florida (clearwater). he says home owner’s insurance is so high, he doesn’t have any. that worries me! if he has any serious damage to his trailer, he wouldn’t be able to do anything about it.
