Please pray for my dad, **EDIT**

Mom and sister think that he overdosed on Soma… he is in the emergency room … He had his script filled yesterday or the day before (60 pills) and now there is only 18 left…
they have been at the emergency room for over an hour and they are still not called back… what kind of hospital are they running over there sis said that they did a blood toxicology on him while sitting in the waiting room.

I am scared to death.

Well, I heard back from my sister a while ago. The blood toxicology came back with his opiates extrememly elevated. Yes he ODed on Soma. I asked if he was going to be ok and she said they did not know yet. He was on an IV was still slurring speach and his pupils were still off, like a dot she said. They were waiting for the results from a cat scan he had done because they are not sure if he had a stroke or not.

My sis was on her way driving my mom back to get her car, so my mom could go back up to the hospital, when she called. (they live in the same condo complex) and I got more of the story..

Dad was sitting on the sofa and started to get all weird with slurred speach and stuff and mom thought his blood sugar was crashing, (my dad is diabetic) so she send my Niece over to my sister’s unit to get dad some fruit or candy or something.

My sister sent an orange back over with niece and when my sister got over there dad was still sitting on the sofa out of it, holding the orange and having a hard time peeling it. Niece told him “don’t worry about pealing it, grampy, just eat it!”

Sister pealed the orange and got him to eat it. She and mom took his blood sugar and the reading was 411 so they gave him an insuline shot and when they took the reading again it still said 411. Then on the side of the meter they saw 411 was an error code and they really started to freak out thinking they just gave him insulin while he was still crashing.

They rushed him to the hospital and the intake people did not want to dl a sugar test or draw his blood but they did finally.

Sugar was around 240. Mom and sis were a little releived they had not killed him with the shot.

My father has an addictive personality and I think he is borderline if not bi-polar. He IS an alchoholic. He drank heavily for half the time I was a kid but was sober for 20 years until MY wedding in 95 when he had one glass of champagne. From then on out he was on and off the wagon. He quit drinking and smoking about 15 days ago. Everyone seems to think he took a couple Soma trying to get that relaxed feeling he got from drinking — forgot he took the Spma and took some more. They do not belive it was an attmept at suiside, although he had been depressed on and off and had talked about it several years ago.

Thank goodness I don’t have an addictive personality. I am on Soma 350 3x a day for my constant muscle spasms and I have no problems with it. I don’t abuse it, I follow my doctor’s directions to the letter.

Anyway, I am still sitting here waiting to hear from mom as to what the results of the cat scan were. Last I heard from mom was at almost 11PM it is now 2:36AM

I am still freakin scared.
