A day off!

Is there anything more satisfying than waking up with the sun shining through your bedroom window? How about waking up with the sun shining through your window on a day off of work? How about waking up to the sun shining through your window on a day off knowing that later in the day you get to grill out with friends and then join your boyfriend, who has been gone for a week, for a outdoor baseball game in what you believe to be one of the nicest stadiums in major league baseball?

It’s going to be a splendid day! The only thing that could possibly make it better would be a winning lottery ticket, a call from the company that I interviewed with offering me a job, and an automobile that is already repaired.

The car repair place called me yesterday afternoon- apparently my car has $2200 worth of damage. Pretty sick, no? Does that not indicate that the dude who hit me was maybe, possibly, going a little too fast around that corner? He turned onto a little side street with very tight two-way traffic. When I spoke with my insurance guy he said that the accident was likely still my fault. He said that any car moving in traffic would have the right-of-way over me because I was coming out of a parking spot. I get that. What I don’t get is how I could have possibly predicted that he was going to turn onto my street from the intersecting street. What I don’t get is why I’m expected to have somehow known that he was going to come flying around that corner from my vantage point, where there is no way that I could have seen him coming. Shouldn’t he have had control of his vehicle? Shouldn’t he have taken that corner with a little bit more caution? What if I had been crossing the street on foot? He came around so fast that he clearly didn’t have time to break.

Ugh, whatever.

Every time my phone rings I freak out a little. It’s officially mid-week! They should be calling me at any time, now. I really, really hope that I get that job.
