Blub blub blub
I tried to write yesterday but something was up with my internet connection and my entry wouldn’t save! Ugh! So, here I am.
Christmas was good. We survived the drive both there and back. The roads were pretty ugly in some spots, but we took our time and it all worked out.
NYE was fabulous. I worked but made it to Nik and Jackie’s by 11:00. Chris and Angela and Meg and Dan were all there, too. Everybody was already pretty drunk. We played Apples to Apples and ate hoppin’ John. We tried to play Mouse Trap (remember that game?!), but couldn’t figure out how to set the damn game up. Lol. I love hanging out with those folks.
Dave is in LA right now, on his annual poker trip to the world’s largest poker room at Commerce with his friend John. So far it sounds as though everything is going pretty well! So, that’s good news. Dave hasn’t booked his flight home yet, but I know that he’ll be home before Saturday as one of his childhood friends is getting married on that day and we have to go to the wedding!
I fucking love Netflix. LOVE.
I have to work at 4. I close tonight. I’ve been closing a lot lately. I worked almost 40 hours last week, which is wayyyy more than most people working as a server generally do. But the money has been great. I have been making enough to put money into savings, which is something that I haven’t been able to do in a very long time. And I’ve been able to splurge on myself: I went shopping a few days ago for the first time in who knows how long. I spent a few hundred dollars and got two new pairs of boots, a couple of sweaters, and two new pairs of jeans. I spent half of my Victorias Secret giftcard on some desperately needed new bras. I really, really needed new clothes.
I’m secretly considering taking my next semester off of school. I’m just burned out again. Don’t tell. I’m kind of ashamed that I’m actually thinking about it, but I can’t help but feel like I need to take a break. I don’t have to decide for a couple more weeks- classes don’t start for us again until February 8th.
Last night I hung out with Clint and Rachel. It was really nice. We met at Mort’s, a bar that we used to frequent back inthe day, to play darts and Buck Hunter. I’d never played that game before. Anyway, it really was lovely. I rarely see them anymore and I’ve missed them.
I’m lame. This entry sucks. I need to make an effort to actually write something of substance. I suppose that starts with me actually taking the time to sit down and write. Writing hasnt’ been on my mind lately. It needs to be on my mind.
Giiiiirl sometimes you need time off. Especially when you are working, too. Who cares how long it takes to graduate as long as you accomplish that goal eventually?

40 hours is a lot for a server. But I bet the $$$ is great! 🙂 I miss serving!

i am so glad you’re doing better with the money situation! i know it was getting stressful there for a while; it’s nice to not have that monkey on your back. glad you splurged! feb 8th seems so late for a semester to start. when does the semester end? there’s nothing wrong with taking a break if you recognize it’s what you need. no rules for these things.

as long as it wont screw up any aid, take time off if you need too!
