Chloe asked me to be her baby’s godmother

Which is kind of silly seeing as how we all know that I am not a Christian. Chloe and Jeremy both know that, too. Jeremy is a Christian but isn’t very religious and Chloe believes in a higher power but isn’t a Christian (she and I have similar beliefs). At any rate, I teared up. And totally accepted. I mean, you don’t have to be a Christian to be a good influence, right? You don’t have to be a Christian to help teach the child right from wrong. You don’t have to be a Christian to take the child under your arm and spoil him or her totally rotten (because that’s what godparents are supposed to do, dammit).

I’m just so honored by the prospect of it all.

That is all.

random noter: I totally agree with you. Having a sense of family and community goes beyond religion. Community in the sense that it takes a village to raise a child, so cliche yet so true.

So very heart-warming. Her baby is lucky to have you as its god parent, no matter what god you choose to believe in. Go you!

I’m a godmother, and I’m not even remotely Christian. I think its just about supporting your’godkid’ and giving him/her another person who loves him/her.
