Of Death and Dollars
Okay, I have to make this quick because I have to start getting ready for work!
- The funeral was awful, as expected. What I didn’t expect, was how much better it made me feel in the end. It’s over. There is closure. Seeing his parents, seeing his brothers, and seeing my sister stand through it all on the soles of her two feet and cry openly and freely (which she has never been one to do) was very difficult, but it made it all real and accepting that definitely has helped to put the whole situation out of my mind. I’ve stopped having nightmares. And my sister still seems to be holding it together quite well, considering. It’s awful- the whole situation has been absolutely awful- but sometimes awful things happen and it’s up to us to get through them in one piece.
- Dave came home late Friday night. I came home from my hometown around 5:30 on Saturday. Shit went down. Just know that Dave has issues with anxiety- he has since he was young and he used to take medication for it- and the issue had to do with anxiety that he was feeling over nothing. It was a very unpleasant way to be greeted after having not seen him for a week, and after having had such a stressful week myself. Looking back, I could have handled myself better. I know this is vague- perhaps I’ll write more about it when I have time.
- Dave got a bill from the IRS saying that he owed $4000+ from a tournament that he’d played in 2007. Dave was unhappy about having to pay it, but took the money out anyway. Last night while at his parents he came to the realization that he’d already paid a very similar bill a while back and decided to do a little research. It was at that point that he came to the realization that he’d already paid that bill- he even found the transaction number/ receipt for the last time it was paid. So, now he has $4k more money than he thought he had. This means that we’re finally going to purchase new furniture for the living room! I’m so excited to paint and finally make that room look presentable.
- Oh, and he said that he has earned 4-5 free nights at any Harrah hotel while in Vegas, so when I finish up my summer class the two of us are going to take a mini-trip to either Vegas or Atlantic City- just to get away. That’ll be really nice.
- My friend Brittany is in town for her internship training this evening. I think that we’re all going to Chloe and Jeremy’s place for hamburgers and hot dogs this evening. That should be fun.
- I’m totally going to be late for work! Ahh!
i hoep she syour sister stays doing well::huggs:: Thats cool he didnt have to pay that money and now you get new stuff! YAY! and YAY for being able to go on a vacation!
