Jaclyn and I have only a couple of weeks before we get to move in to our new apartment (June 1st at the latest… we’re trying to get in earlier but it all depends on when our landlord finishes installing the dishwasher and rewiring some of the outlets). In preparation we’ve been on a bit of a shopping tilt…

Jaclyn bought a couch from a furniture store. She explained it to me at work the other day- it’s beige/brown in color, it’s a sectional, and it has a chaise. I tried to find it online by going to the manufacturer’s website but I couldn’t find the exact sofa. After seeing a rather splotchy cellphone picture and hearing her description, I think that it looks something like this (but without the grayish base and feet… and maybe a little lighter in color):

 

 

 

I’m planning on buying some end tables and a little entertainment center in espresso colored wood shortly after we move in- I’m apprehensive of buying them beforehand as I feel that I need to have a better idea of how the sofa is going to fit in the room before I go buying things to put around it.

These are the end tables that I’ve been looking at (they look almost black in this picture, but in person they’re a really dark shade of brown):

I plan on buying a matching bookshelf for the sunroom, where we’ll also be putting the loveseat that I already own along with my dark brown leather ottoman.

For the dining room I recently purchased six chairs:

 

 

 

and am planning on buying this table, which seats up to eight without the leaf put in place and ten with it put in place:

Yesterday I bought this bed:

I plan on buying this dresser to go with it:

 

 

and at least one of these nightstands:

 

 

The bathroom stuff has already been purchased and I already own pretty much everything and anything that we’d need for the kitchen (though, I’m considering buying some new stainless steel pots and pans). Dave has tentatively given me the TV that he had in his bedroom to use in our living room (it’s a Sony flat screen… 40", I think?) because his roommate John is planning on buying a 60" TV for their living room, leaving Dave with his 47" and his 40". If he puts the 47" in his bedroom then he doesn’t have anywhere to put the 40". It’ll still belong to Dave, Jackie and I will just be using it for the year.

We’re pretty excited! When it’s all said and done we’re hoping to have an apartment that we can be proud of- something that looks adult and thought out and not college-y.

 

It’s been an hour since I started this entry and I have bought more stuff! God, I love craigslist! Somebody was selling two bookshelves:

 

Originally priced at $70/piece for $25 a piece! AND she offered to deliver them to me for an additional $10! They’re in the garage right now. I had initially only planned on buying one (to put in the sunroom), but with a price like that I bought both and am going to put the other in my bedroom. You can never have too many bookshelves, anyway. I have a million books and I’m sure Jaclyn has a bajillion too.

Anyway! I need to go to the bank and pick up a prescription before work. I’m off!
