The Specifics
Chloe hasn’t called me yet today, but we did text message a little last night. I’ll be watching him from June 8th-September 5th from 9am-:4:15pm. She offered me $200/week (which only averages out to about $5/hour), but I said that I’d take it! I know that I could potentially be making three times that (or even more if I went back to waiting tables or bartending), but I’m willing to take that substantial pay cut because watching Julian is something that I want to do. I hate waiting tables. I hate bartending. I hate working late nights. Plus, I think that it’ll be perfect because once Dave and I move into our new place, we’ll be living less than half of a mile from where Chloe and Jeremy live. That means that I’ll save on gas money, will be doing something that I know I will enjoy doing, can go to and from my place or her place whenever I want while I’m watching him, can run errands if I need to, can do my homework if I need to, can hang with Dave if I want to… the list goes on and on. I basically get to live my life during the summer while caring for a child who I already love and I’ll get paid a little for it. I’ll still have my other job on the weekends, so my rent will basically already be covered.
It sounds like a win-win sitation to me!
I just got back from a little run… and I can both hear and feel my heart beating in my head. That’s kind of creepy…
Yesterday afternoon I reviewed the classes that I’ll need to take next semester. I also went through my school’s online registration system to check what times my classes will be offered to get an idea of what my schedule will look like. I discovered that one of my required dietetics courses has a required lab that is only offered one time during the week… from 7am to 11:35am on Tuesdays!! Seven-fucking-AM! That instructor is a total glutton for punishment, I swear to god. I don’t know what she is thinking! I’ll have to leave my apartment by 6:20 on Tuesdays! I’m a morning person, but come on… that is just ridiculous! Ugh, it’s going to be so awful!
Well, I have some minor homework that I need to get done before I can leave for class this afternoon… I’d better get working on it!
woo! it worked out. that’s about $40 a day, right? not too shabby, and definitely a win-win all around. and i remember that happening to me my last semester of college. ALL i needed was spanish and it was my last summer — only MORNING classes available, and one at that. every.single.day. sucked! i’m so excited for you and dave!!

That sounds pretty reasonable, especially since you won’t have to claim it. 7am, really? I had no idea classes were offered before 8am! Suckage!

When I was in college, the music department held required classes really early in the morning on purpose, to weed out the people who weren’t really serious about it. I don’t remember any being THAT early though.

sounds great – it won’t even feel like work lol. good luck with those morning classes… that’s no fun!

wow thats good that shes offering that. most people do NOT make that at all for watching a baby. normally its like 125 a week so 200 is good!
Warning Comment
how are you going to have the baby and be at class?
Warning Comment
$200 isn’t bad at all… that is a good deal! yay!

I also question how you’ll be watching him and attending your abovementioned lab?! 🙂 Glad she offered an amount you’re happy with!

Sounds like the perfect summer job!! & a demon of a teacher!! honestly, what the heck. & it’s not like having it at that time is even helpful in ANY respect bc it isnt over until after 11. I was going to say maybe it’s good for people with 9-5 jobs, but nope. Ugh!!! xoxo
