Weekend – Country Wedding *Edit

Aaaah Monday.

Today is day four of my four day weekend and I have nothing planned, apart from a run that is going to take place sometime this morning. I haven’t decided where I’m going to run today; part of me wants to do a big circle around a park located just off of one of the lakes near my house, but I know that that park has some extremely killer hills and the hills will be hitting me just as I reach the two mile mark, which sounds like a bit much considering I did almost four miles in my morning run alone yesterday (followed by leisurely a two mile walk in the afternoon).

We’ll see.

My weekend has been great; Friday was a mad dash to get ready for a 3 hour drive north to attend my little cousin’s wedding (which was to begin at 4pm on Friday. I thought that was weird… who gets married on a Friday?). My sisters carpooled with Dave and I. The wedding itself was definitely my favorite of all of the weddings that I’ve been to for that side of the family- it wasn’t fancy but it had class that the majority of the others lacked and was outdoor (rather than in some church). It was just beautiful. They couldn’t have asked for a more perfect day. They had the groom’s father officiate (apparently he’s a pastor also, I didn’t know this at the time of the wedding- I just loved that they had him do it. It made the whole thing feel that much more intimate. It definitely gave me some ideas for when I get married).

I’m a little disappointed, because I don’t think that there was a single picture of Dave and I taken the entire night! We looked really good and my dress was incredible.

Now for a couple of pictures!

This was apparently taken before the wedding. Side note: Note the pontoon toward the left of the picture? Tied to the dock that they’re standing on? At around 10pm that night, Dave and I snuck out there for a little time alone… if you know what I mean. Yep. Super classy!  I had had a few to drink and was more than a little buzzed. Once inside we’d walked all the way back to the reception room before I realized that I had gravel all over my knees.

I’ve never felt more trash-tastic in all of my life.

lol.

Well, the stars were incredible that night.

During the ceremony

Later at the dance:

A little back-story to this one: that’s my grandpa. When Ashley (my cousin) was little, she was involved in pageants. Her talent was always singing. In 99.9% of the pageants that she was involved in, she had my grandpa come up on stage and she’d sing The Judd’s song titled Grandpa (Tell me ’bout the Good Old Days). That’s the song that they danced to. It totally slayed me.

Saturday we slept in and were on the road back to Minneapolis by around noon. The drive home seemed to have taken forever… I was so tired. Once back in the city I hung around Dave’s place for a bit before returning home. Once home I did absolutely nothing… and I’ve been doing absolutely nothing ever since! It’s been lovely.

I think that we’ll leave it at that. I should probably get outside. Upon returning I’m going to make pancakes for breakfast. Mmmm.

My run was a short one (I skipped the park and just went to one end of one of the lakes and back (about 2 miles total). I’m happy that I didn’t do more… for the first time since I started running again my shins are killing me!

Want to have a few (or a lot) of really good laughs? Read this blog. Oh my god it is AWESOME. My little sister told me about it on our way home from the wedding and I’m so happy that she did. It’s my new favorite thing on the internet.

Aw! So gorgeous! Where was the wedding? I live up in Rice so it was probably not far from me. Love that you & Dave snuck off:)

sounds like a really cool wedding 🙂 and I was wondering that too, WHO gets married on a FRIDAY?? I was just invited to a Friday wedding. I’m glad I’m not the only one who thought that’s kind of weird…

I love your little late night excursion 🙂 That blog is pretty popular. Even Miles’ mom loves it.

I LOVE hyperbole and a half. I have the “Internet Forever” mousepad… it is amazing. My favorite is either the Better Pain Scale or the Retarded Dog one.
