The Ask Matt Random Questions Event: Part II

So, it turns out that many of you mistakenly read the “Ask Matt Random Questions Event” as the “Ask Matt Random Sex Questions Event.” Really, I’m a virgin! How many sexual questions can there be!

Anyway, there are loads of question so we may as well jump right at them. TheNewMrs.King wonders:

So, going along with the sexual questions, we all know you are a virgin, but what have you done with a woman?

Well, to be honest, I’ve done lots of things with a woman. Let’s see, I’ve held hands with a woman, hugged a woman, played Scrabble with a woman. I’ve done all these things with multiple women even. Heather, however, is the only woman(?) I’ve ever held hands with, hugged, and played Scrabble with.

What’s that? You mean you want to know how far I’ve been sexually? Well, that’s an entirely separate matter. Without getting too explicit, I will say that I’ve gone about as far as you can go without actually having oral sex or vaginal sex. I’ve been brought to orgasm by a girl before. Though I’ve never brought a girl to orgasm before – see I’m already off to a bad start and I’m still a virgin!

Next up, is mksdlw who has a question which only has sexual overtones:

What attracts you to a woman?

That’s a good question. Unfortunately, I think people in general are horrible at identifying what attracts them to others, as the things that seem like they would attract you aren’t always the things that actually do. Still, I will do my best.

This is sort of a two part question, as there is the physical aspect as well as the “personality” aspect. I tend to place a bit more importance on the personality aspect, but it’s still necessary that I’m actually physically attracted to a girl if I’m going to be attracted to her in a larger sense, so we’ll start there. In general, I like girls that are smaller than me. Extremely short girls are attractive to me, probably because they make me feel more dominant. To put this in perspective, if I had to pick between a 6 foot tall super model and a 5 foot tall unattractive girl, I would probably be more attracted to the uglier girl. It’s just how I work. In a general sense, I think I’m attracted to the same features that most guys are attracted to – they’re sorta ingrained into us through evolution and such. Sorry if that isn’t particularly revealing, though, for the record, I will say that I find something like 90% of girls my age to be physically attractive and, as long as I actually feel attraction towards a girl, I’m generally more concerned with personality traits.

As for personality, I think most people like other people that are similar to them, and that is true for me as well. I’m definitely more attracted to girls who share interests with me. Besides that, I’d say I’m attracted to girls who are passionate about life and that have a general exuberance to them. I’m also attracted to any girls who seem “different” be it because they’re incredibly social, incredibly shy, or that they just have unique interests. I’m not generally attracted to aggressive girls (i.e. Donna) or girls that are more interested in playing dating games than they are genuinely getting to know you. I’m not too adept at the whole dating thing in general (as if you don’t already know that from reading my diary), to me a romantic relationship with someone is just an extension of a good friendship. It seems to me that most people have separate categories for “people who are friends” and “people who they date” which is something I’ve never had. Which, I suppose what I’m saying is that I’m attracted to girls who I take the time to get to know and find interesting and fun to be around. Which is a lousy answer, but there you have it.

Next, a question on life goals from exupery:

So… any unusual life goals (none of that job and family crap)? Want to climb a mountain? Become a monk? Own a pet kangaroo? Etc

I don’t think that I have any specific goals that are particularly unusual, no. I will say, of the three that you listed, owning a pet kangaroo sounds the most enticing. Overall, my life goal is to enjoy each day that I have and to do what I can to help other people enjoy each day that they have too. I don’t think that’s a very unusual goal though.

I don’t think this next note was actually a question, but I want to address it anyway:

<font face="Verdana”>You know by answering the sex/virgin question the way you did, will make females want to have sex with you/love you. As exemplified by the first few noters.

I’m not sure how much I agree with that. I suppose I agree to the extent that I think some girls would probably enjoy the romantic ideal of being a guy’s first time, yes. And yes, the fact that they could take a guy’s virginity would probably make them feel very “special” and, thus, cause them to want to pursue sex with me. But I definitely don’t think being a virgin actually makes me more attractive to girls – at least not in the knee-knocking, heart-racing, kind of way.

And now two more questions from Yours for Now:

Why don’t you actually record the events of your life?? You know, like, "This morning I woke up at six oh five. It was dark outside, but not too dark. I needed to pee, so I went to the bathroom. I had breakfast; cheerios mixed with Fruit Loops." Etc. etc.?

Because I don’t want my entries to be as long as yours.

Is there a limit to egotism?? Is there a limit to MY egotism??

I’m not sure if there is a limit to egotism in general, but I think there is a limit to yours. You’re not that egotistical – you’re confident, yes, but confidence is an attractive, healthy, trait. I honestly think people mistake “egotism” for people who are actually insecure with themselves and trying to establish their dominance all the time. People who are really confident don’t have to establish themselves as dominant, because they already know they are. Confident people are usually the least intimidating, most friendly people you’ll come across.

Right, I just went into my own little rant there . . . Next question is from Blackbird, Fly:

So, I think you’ve mentioned before that you’d like to become a writer. What do you read?

Well, first of all, when I say that I’d like to become a writer, that’s probably a misleading statement as while, yes, I would love to one day just have to write nonsense for a living, it’s not something I’m actually pursuing. So, seeing as I doubt it’s something that’s going to happen magically, I doubt I’ll ever be earning any income from writing. As for the question, currently I’m not reading much of anything, as I’ve been so swamped with schoolwork that I haven’t had a lot of time to actually read. Matt’s Semi-Annual Book Review is going to be extraordinarily short this year, for certain. As for my reading tastes, I try to keep it pretty eclectic, but I primarily focus on more serious literature and stray away from genre fiction. I usually enjoy modern fiction more than the “classics” but there are certainly exceptions to this. Some of my favorite authors are Chris Wilson, Cynthia Ozick, Haruki Murakami, and Gilbert Adair. Also, I usually obsessively finish any book I start, though I have been lightening up on this policy – I’m still pretty obsessive about finishing every fictional book that I start, but I have started tossing non-fiction stuff aside if I decide that it’s not relevant to an interest of mine. And if you really want to know about my reading tastes, I actually went to the trouble to divide the “book reviews” into a separate chapter on the front page of my diary, so you can check that out.

Next up is Yesterday’s Girl with a rather common question:

My question: why did you pick accounting of all things? ick.

I’m not sure there is a good answer to this – I can’t honestly say that I have a huge passion for accounting. However, I went to college so that I could raise my value and earn more money eventually and accounting is a field that I can actually do that in. I understand that, say, English or Psychology degrees might be more fun to pursue, but I can read the same stuff (and, in my opinion, better stuff) that I would have to read to get the degrees on my own time. I think people in general mistake how much they might enjoy studying in a particular subject for how much they might enjoy working in a particular subject – I’d love to study English, but hell if I want to teach high school kids English or work as an editor for a newspaper. And despite all the jokes about how boring accounting is, it’s not as though I’m going to just sit in a cubicle all day. My job will involve traveling, doing audits, and forming creative tax strategies and solutions. I’m not going to be sitting around filling out tax returns. So, overall, I don’t think my job will be that bad, and I’ll make a pretty good living doing it. And, hey, if I don’t like it, then I’ll do something else. A CPA license won’t be a bad thing to fall back on.

And, wow, you guys asked a lot of questions. Which is great! The next one is from yuki:

If you had all the money you needed, what would you choose to do with your life? Where would you go?

This is an amusingly ridiculous answer, but the first thing that I can think that I would do would be to fly around and meet all the long-distance friends I’ve made online, mostly through Open Diary. I’d definitely see Heather more often. I think it’s interesting that, when I think in terms of “where would I go” I think of people, not places. I mean, yeah, I guess I could go to more sporting events, and I could see Greece, and Paris, and London, but more than anything, I would like it because I could interact with my long distance friends easier. I value people more than places.

And currently, this entry is very long, so I’ll tackle the rest of your questions tomorrow. Until then.

I like Haruki Murakami as an author. I love to read and write 🙂

I agree, there’s nothing wrong with accounting! It can be fun working out all those structures – almost creative… The office politics suck though. You learn a lot about the business you’re servicing too – so often end up able to move into any industry you’ve worked in… I agree about English Lit too – love it (but not to study it).

You shouldn’t just see Greece…you should move there. But not to Athens. You already live in Athens. Or, you SHOULD move to Athens and then you could change the title of your diary. OR, …oh, no that was all. You are silly. : ) ~I’ll be

Great, now you’re making me feel like I’m making a huge mistake and going to ruin my life by going into psychology. GREEAT. Thanks Matt. lol.

you didn’t answer my questions, matty. i await impatiently.

Here are some questions for you: Were you ever attracted to me? Would you ever consider dating/having a relationship with/marrying an older woman? And by older I mean much older, like by twenty years or so. How tall are you? What is your worst nightmare? And I don’t mean a literal nightmare, but what is the worst outcome possible you can think of for your life? ^_^

[laughs] do your legions of adoring fans ever drive you crazy? will we ever see you chatting up lindsay lohan or paris hilton in rehab?

You didn’t answer MY question. I’m not going to pout, though. I know just didn’t want everone else to get jealous. … Furthermore, I…hmmm. Forgot. Well. Goodnight.

November 14, 2007

How tall ARE you? (Just made me curious, as most people seem to think I’m fairly tall for a girl at 5’8.5″…my boyfriend is 6’5″, so it works.) I actually wouldn’t want to be a guy’s first time. I’m not sure why. Maybe because my only experience with a guy less experienced than me was horrible..but that was because of him as a person, not his experience level. Okay. I’m supposed to be doingmy update for the day. Come ask me a question! Haha. ♥ Andrea

November 15, 2007

Well if you came to see me, you’d not only get to see London, Paris, Greece, etc, but me as well! We could hold hands, play scrabble, and hug even. So it’s about time you win the lottery or something. What does rain smell like? Is the world getting better or worse?

:o)

Uh, I don’t like the ask Matt random questions entries lol. I don’t know why, really. I figure its because if I want to ask something, I just bloody ask you.
