Purging for the Better and Pompeii (pics)
My body is back to normal, thankfully! After that experience I began to look at things in my life differently. I realized many of the things I hold on to in hopes of one day sharing them are really not necessary. For examples, all the books I was saving to one day have my own library. People don’t come to visit me and if by chance someone does they don’t usually pick up a book to read. So I gathered together the books I have no interest in reading again and took them to work to give away. After all books are meant to be read. Went over pretty well with my co-workers. Around about 20 of my former books now have new homes. I feel good knowing that I could share them. I could have gotten money or credits for them if I had taken them to a second hand book store to trade in, but I figure I saved my co-workers some money by doing it this way. The remaining unwanted books will be going to the store though.
Purge my wardrobe next. I haven’t gotten the articles out of the apartment yet though. I wanted to see if my family wanted any of them before I head to the second hand store with them. Some of the articles did come from my sister and maybe she would like them back for when she gets back down to that size.
Work is busy busy busy. We are still behind in our planting but I think we could catch up in a month. Been making a lot of goals-which earn extra money- and working overtime. While my checks have been large my free weekends have been small. Finally this weekend Edwin and I each got both days off. Today we are going to go to a kite fest. Yesterday we went to an exhibit at the Museum Center called A Day In Pompeii. The city of Pompeii was buried in 79 AD when it was shook by and earthquake and Mount Vesuvius erupted. The entire city was completely buried in less than 24 hours. Was not until nearly 1700 years later that it was found again, accidentally! I understand about the event but the tragicness of it all did not really hit me till I watched a video showing the different stages of the disaster at the hours of the day and then seeing the actual bodies recovered from the site. The suddenness and pain can be seen in the positions of the bodies.

Now sure I would want to carry this with me to do my cooking but it is an interesting idea for camping.
Plumbing back in AD 79.
Fertility Statue. Fertility god in the palm surrounded objects of regeneration; bird, nursing mother, pine cone, and snake.
Man caught in the path of death.
Man reaching for woman.
Two women found in a garden.
Guard dog.
No one in Pompeii survived that day.
Four miles away from the city people fled together from the heat and ash but still p
erished.
Wow!! That is fascinating! And sad. The Babe and I both learned a thing or two. Thanks.

wow, thanks for show and tell, very interesting. Glad you have a couple days off to do have some fun! Nice to go through your stuff and get rid of. I am in the middle and I think, really-how feasible is it I am going to use it in the next year?
