Strong Independent Type
I have been trekking my way through the 52 Hike Challenge and have noticed a few side affects. I don’t remember ever feeling so strong and independent. I have pushed myself to go out on my own to places I have never been before. In the past I would forgo going places when I had no one to accompany me. Now there is no hesitation to venture out into the wilderness. I even enjoy the alone time. Occasionally I will get nervous when other hikers approach out of the blue but my experience is the vast majority are happy go lucky kind of people just out to take advantage of the weather and nature. Because I am hiking in 52 different places, my knowledge of communities has grown. In researching new places I have found gems I never knew were so close. To top it all off, I was even able to go on vacation, by myself, to Utah to hike the National Parks, which were on my bucket list. If I hadn’t taken on this challenge I doubt I would have gone to Utah and definitely not alone.
Physical improvements have also become noticeable. In addition to the hiking I have also stuck to a workout regiment. My caves are strong, my legs and hips are slimming down, and I am even starting to like my butt. The exertion has been great for producing happy endorphins and the fresh air is wonderful.
Sometimes I go hiking with one of my friends who use to work for the parks. It is like having a personal tour guide. He has taught me about the plants and has expert knowledge of the birds.
Still don’t have it all together though. My apartment has become a bit cluttered and I am behind in my reading goals.
