a lovely little rant on random surfers

Everyone is IMing me tonight… You know those desperate random people that just IM you out of the blue? And you’re thinking… I wonder if I know this person, or they’re just another desperate flaw in the system. Inevitably, on a night like tonight, some girly-girl will IM you. You know, the ones with pink fonts and profiles of “I think u r 2 cute! I love all my girlies!”? Right. So they IM me with the same second line… a/s/l? I’m guilty of using it too, and I understand why it’s used. But the one problem I have with it, is that apparently my screen name is often mistaken for that of a male’s. It’s not really THAT masculine, and yet all of these *girly girls* have stereotypes slammed into their puny little brains and automatically think I’m a guy. Fine. So I tell them my a/s/l. You know they’re thinking, ohhh… darn… it’s not a male that I can cyber-slobber all over! To top it off, they try to HIDE their true intentions, and just say they thought it was someone else. Or you’ll get the traditional, “Oh, nevermind…” Yeah that’s popular. It’s like a flashing neon sign saying, “I’m desperate and looking for a dumb jock of a male to chat with online!”

I’m being unfair. I’ve done that before. I’ve searched for guys to chat with. (Mostly because, as you see, most of the girls are unworthy of chat. Or I’m just desperate… either way.) The difference here is, it SAYS that I’m a female in my profile. It really does. Back in the days when I did search for people to chat with, I at least MADE sure they were male before IMing them. I am happy to say that I haven’t done that in a long time. My buddy list is already overcrowded with people. Most of whom I actually know, and the rest filled with ODers. Much better that way. Fewer random people.

Well… THAT provided nice material for an entry. I should record the screen names of everyone that IMs me and post them here. Wouldn’t it be fun to bombard the HECK out of their little teeny-bopper screen names with a bunch of IMs? Yes… it really would.

now I’m caught up with YOU! Yay! New York sounded awesome, I can’t wait til I can go! Glad you had a good time 🙂 If someone IMs me out of the blue with “a/s/l?”, I just don’t answer them. Basically, if they can’t think of a more clever opening line than that, it’s not worth my time.

well, there could be an entry you should read, but then again, I could just tell you what it’s about. I passed my exams. 5.375 on 6. I could have failed, and if I had, it would have been terrible, my mind would have been destroyed, etc, etc…
