Moving and shaking

2 days from now the packers arrive in my apartment.  The following day the movers will pick everything up and take it to my new house about 8 miles from here.

I’ve been painting the bedrooms and office for the past week or so and the cat is over there now keeping watch.

I’ll need to be busy packing the food, the plants, the alcohol (and anything else the movers can’t take) over in my car.  Then I’ll need to clean the apartment and unpack the house.

Work is gearing up and the rains of winter will be coming soon.  I will be glad to be settled in my new place by then.  I picked 2 cups of raspberries in the garden there yesterday.  There’s a fig tree on the south side that is loaded with fruit.  I’ll need to research fig recipes.  The herb gardens are overgrown but well stocked – so it will be fun using fresh herbs in my cooking. 

I am quite excited about this move.  The apartment has been lovely but loud and brightly lit near the windows – and expensive.  This house is quiet and has a private garden surrounding, allowing for dark at night.  It’s about half the cost, also – so I am feeling very fortunate.
