Ups and downs

Dear diary…its been a couple of months and I’ve neglected you.  Its been a real roller coaster ride of emotion since I last made an entry.

A CT scan on 8-24 confirmed Kelly’s cancer is back.  That reality was a bitter pill to swallow.  We had just received the wonderful news of a clear CT scan on 6-4 and now this.  She’s back on carboplatin every 3 weeks and we just learned from a CA125 blood test that her cancer again appears to be responding.  Looks like the pendulum may be swinging in our favor again for a while.

Random thoughts and memories from this past summer:

I love my wife and don’t want to lose her.  As I sat in the church at Virginia Robertson’s memorial service, I looked at Joe and imagined that was me up there and it was Kelly’s memorial service instead.  I struggle to keep dark thoughts out of my head. 

We had a great time in Chicago with Dr. J and her family.  The Cubs won both games we attended at Wrigley!  As I write this, the Cubs have a 2 game lead over the Brewers with 5 games left to play.  Can they win the division or will the curse win out again?

I love staying in downtown Chicago and riding the "L" to the Addison Street station for the short walk to Wrigley.

Sure has been incredibly dry.  The lake is down about 2 feet.

That splinter Dr. Warren removed from the bottom of my foot was a big one!

Glad I found the Sea Rayder….that sure is a fun little boat.

Sure hope my daughter gets over her morning sickness soon.  God willing, I’m gonna be a Grandfather!

I hope it was the cat and not one of those darn raccoons that bit Kelly.

Man, how could I forget???  What a relief to have sold our "old" house!  We’re doing "ok", but really don’t need two house payments! 

Hoping and praying for good results when Kelly gets her next CT scan in about 6 weeks or so.
