The Impression That I Get
“I’ve never had to knock on wood,
And I’m glad I haven’t yet.
Because I’m sure it isn’t good,
That’s the impression that I get.”
-The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, The Impression That I Get
So.
I’m doing pretty well, I daresay.
I’ve been seeing a girl for a few weeks now. We’re going for a casual sort of thing, although she’s strongly hinting towards wanting the couplehood thing. Which may happen, who knows? But then, I have this tendency to jump headlong into relationships and that has come back to bite me, which is why I want to take this one slowly. Well, that’s one reason.
She also has a tendency, from what she has told me, to get bored of boys easily. Which, at this point, makes me reticent to go “Okay, we’re serious now” and open myself up to a much greater disappointment when she inevitably leaves. Because I’m one boring motherfucker.
I also got a new car. 2001 Honda Civic. Which is also nice.
My job has been back up to full-time for the past month or so. Looking for overtime volunteers, too, so that’s good.
I have a lot of good things going for me, which is why I’m looking over my shoulder. I’m just a little nervous, waiting for the other shoe to drop. Because, you know, things never seem to go too well for me for too long.
And I wonder where, exactly, the first thing will go wrong.
One day at a time. Enjoy what you have while you have it.

I’m glad to hear that things are going well for you! Don’t get too distracted from the good times by waiting for and anticipating that other shoe.

A little optimism eh?

Weird. I’m going through the exact same thing. I almost thought you were the guy I was casually seeing until you mentioned the car.
